California's game at Washington State was canceled less than two hours before kickoff on Saturday because of a case of COVID-19 on the Cal team, the Pac-12 said. It's the third Washington State game that has been postponed or canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Cal was not able to field enough scholarship players to meet the minimum threshold in order to play the game, the Pac-12 said. The Golden Bears had one player test positive and then additional players were sidelined because of contact tracing. The case was confirmed via a PCR test on Saturday, the league said. The game was declared a no contest. Cal (1-3) and Washington State (1-2) are struggling to qualify for postseason play. Neither team has an opponent set for next weekend. - California/AP College Football

  12/11/20 - Trevon ClarkSr/2022, California, 6-3, 193 (DS#72 WR) + More +

Cal head coach Justin Wilcox said Wednesday night that the program has made allowance for senior wideout Trevon Clark to handle personal affairs instead of finishing the season with the Bears. "Trevon is excused for personal reasons right now," Wilcox said. The 6'4" receiver had 250 receiving yards last season, scoring two touchdowns and notching a career-long 45-yard catch against Arizona State. Clark has only played in three games this season, completing four catches for 23 total receiving yards. Wilcox did not disclose the length of Clark's exemption. - Daily Californian

  12/09/20 - Cameron GooderSr/2022, California, 6-3, 232 (DS#29 OLB) + More +

If Cameron Goode hasn't already considered taking up duck hunting as a hobby, he definitely should now. The linebacker had his outing of the year against the Ducks, penciling numbers into every stat category as the night unfolded. Goode had seven total tackles, 1.5 sacks and a monumental 3.5 tackles for loss in addition to a forced fumble recovery in the fourth quarter. The outside linebacker proved stellar at getting into the backfield and stopping the run, all the more important against a rush-happy team like Oregon, which totaled 809 rushing yards before playing the Bears.

Two of Goode's tackles for loss were against Oregon's CJ Verdell and Travis Dye, the Pac-12's fourth- and fifth-leading rushers, respectively. Goode was essential to limiting the Ducks' prolificity in the first half and shutting down Oregon's not-so-secret weapons, preventing it from executing the juiced deep runs and long balls so distinct to the team's winning offense. - Daily Californian
