  WEEK 9 UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: West Georgia's senior defensive lineman, David Hoage was second on the squad in tackles against Central Arkansas, finishing with nine stops including four solo tackles. Hoage collected a pair of sacks, three TFL and a forced fumble in the Wolves win. Both sacks came in the fourth quarter, aiding West Georgia in its comeback effort that saw the team rally from a 17-6 deficit to start the fourth quarter. - United Athletic Conference Football

  Latrelle Murrell ran for 101 yards and a touchdown and got a touchdown pass on a trick play and West Georgia smothered Utah Tech 23-0 on Saturday. Murrell's 8-yard run helped the Wolves (8-3, 5-3 United Athletic Conference) to a 9-0 lead at halftime. Late in the third quarter, the Wolves capped an 11-play, 89-yard drive with Bryce Dickerson catching a backwards pass from Davin Wydner who threw an 18-yard pass to Murrell. Wydner capped the scoring with a 25-yard pass to Jacob Ritchie midway through the fourth quarter. Utah Tech (2-9, 1-7) recorded six punts, three lost fumbles, an interception and a missed field goal on its 11 possessions. The offense generated 253 total yards. - AP College Football

  Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes, Latrelle Murrell ran for 128 yards and a score and West Georgia shut out North Alabama in the second half for a 24-17 victory on Saturday night. Wydner tossed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Dickerson and a 20-yarder to Owen Dupree to end the scoring with 5:43 left to play in the third quarter.

Wydner was 26-of-34 passing for 274 yards. Murrell carried 16 times that included a 55-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for West Georgia (7-3, 4-3 United Athletic Conference). Destin Wade threw for 137 yards and a touchdown pass, and he added 31 yards rushing with a TD run to lead North Alabama (2-8, 1-5). Wade connected with Azariah Fletcher for a 75-yard touchdown and ran for a 11-yard TD to give the Lions a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter. - AP College Football

  Collin Hurst threw two touchdown passes and caught a pass for another score, leading Presbyterian to a 43-14 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday. The FCS No. 21 Blue Hose (8-1, 4-1 Pioneer Football League) were leading 16-0 in the second quarter when they put backup quarterback Ty Englehart into the game. Hurst stayed on the field and caught a 12-yard pass from Englehart for a 23-0 halftime lead. Hurst was 26 of 32 passing for 278 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Dominic Kibby. Englehart completed 2 of 3 passes for 19 yards and also scored on a 20-yard run. Presbyterian had 446 yards of total offense. Valpo's Rowan Keefe threw for 225 yards, but the Beacons (1-8, 0-5) had a negative rushing total to finish with 219 total yards. Presbyterian is 8-1 for the first time since the 1959 team posted a regular-season mark of 9-1. - AP College Football

  Davin Wydner threw two touchdown passes in the final six-and-a-half minutes and West Georgia rallied for an 18-17 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday. Wydner threw a 22-yard score to Owen Dupree for the Wolves' (6-2, 3-2 United Athletic Conference) first touchdown of the game. The failed 2-point conversion reduced West Georgia's deficit to 17-12 with 6:38 left. The Wolves' defense responded by holding Central Arkansas to minus-5 yards in five plays and forced the Bears to punt. Wydner then led West Georgia on a six-play, 74-yard drive in which he went 5-for-5 passing for 71 yards. His 23-yard touchdown pass to Dupree were proceeded by completions of 18 and 21 yards in succession to Dupree to give West Georgia its first lead with 1:31 left.

Central Arkansas turned the ball over on downs and West Georgia let time expire. Austin Myers threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Arlie Lee early in the second quarter with 12:39 before halftime for a 7-0 Bears' (2-5, 1-2) lead. West Georgia got on the board four minutes later with a 33-yard field goal from Tommy Holden. On the following drive, Myers helped lead another 11-play drive, this one for 75 yards, that ended with his 3-yard scoring pass to Malachi Henry for a 14-3 lead. Myers threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Landen Chambers ran for 122 yards on 28 carries. - AP College Football

  Collin Hurst threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns, Zach Switzer scored twice on the ground, and Presbyterian defeated Butler 31-25 on Saturday. The FCS No. 24 Blue Hose (6-0, 2-0 Pioneer Football League) took the lead with a 75-yard touchdown reception by Nathan Levicki on Presbyterian's first play in the fourth quarter.

After forcing a Butler punt, the Blue Hose brought the clock down to one minute before Switzer punched in his second of the day to make it a two-score game. Justin Montgomery added a career-high 134 yards rushing on 10 carries to lead the Blue Hose. Boyce Bankhead made 11 tackles as Presbyterian held Butler to 7-for-17 on third downs. The Bulldogs (4-3, 2-1) were led by Reagan Andrew, who completed 20 of his 33 passes for 195 yards, and also rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown on 31 carries. - AP College Football

  Collin Hurst threw for two touchdowns and he ran for one of Presbyterian's four touchdowns on the ground as the Blue Hose beat Morehead State 41-0 on Saturday in a Pioneer Football League opener for both teams. Presbyterian rushed for 303 yards on just 32 carries. Zach Switzer had two touchdowns and a team-high 158 yards rushing on just six carries. Justin Montgomery added a touchdown and 106 yards rushing. Switzer had a 66-yard touchdown and a 79-yarder in the second quarter. Dominic Kibby and Switzer each had two catches with a touchdown apiece for Presbyterian (5-0). Carter Cravens was intercepted twice and Bryce Patterson threw the other interception for Morehead State (2-3). Presbyterian led 35-0 at halftime after Morehead State's first-half drives ended in two interceptions, three turnover-on-downs, three punts and a fumble. He accounted for 10 points in UWG's upset win over a ranked Nicholls State team.   WEEK 3 PFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Collin Hurst, Presbyterian (Sophomore (RS), Quarterback, Davie, Florida),...Hurst's 350-yard outing was just shy of a career best as he led Presbyterian to a 3-0 start this season with a 42-14 victory against Erskine on Saturday. Despite playing only three quarters in the win, he was eight passing yards shy of setting his career best. He completed 15-of-21 passes for three touchdowns to help extend the Presbyterian lead to 35-7 before taking his leave.   WEEK 3 FCS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: West Georgia (35-31 win over ETSU),...The then-No. 25 Wolves (3-0) delivered on their first FCS national ranking by overcoming a 31-20 deficit in the final 6:40. The game-winner came on Devion Newsom's 2-yard touchdown reception from Davin Wydner with 15 seconds left. Wydner fired a trio of scoring passes, Latrelle Murrell posted his third straight game over 100 rushing yards, and Jay Carter and David Hoage had 10 tackles each for coach Joel Taylor's United Athletic Conference team.
