  Preston Rice scored the go-ahead touchdown and Murray State rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Southeast Missouri State 24-21 on Sunday. Rice's 3-yard run returned the lead to the Racers (2-0, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) with eight minutes remaining after the Redhawks scored twice earlier in the quarter. With Southeast Missouri trailing 17-7, the Redhawks’ Al Young caught a shanked punt a yard behind the line of scrimmage and returned it 10 yards to the Murray State 30. The short field led to a touchdown plunge by Zion Custis. A minute later, Shabari Davis returned an interception 33 yards for the lead. A celebration penalty following Davis' score resulted in Murray State starting a drive at the Redhawks' 49. The Racers converted a fourth-and-5 on a 12-yard slant to Dequan Dallas down to the 3. It marked the first win over a ranked opponent for the Racers since 2018, the first road win over a ranked opponent since 2017 and first win at SEMO since 2011. With the game tied at seven in the first quarter, he picked off Andrew Bunch and returned it 22 yards for a score. His final interception of the game came at the MSU 38-yard line as time expired to seal the victory.   Preston Rice threw for one touchdown and ran for another and Murray State beat UT Martin 14-10 in a spring opener Sunday to give Dean Hood his first win as the Racers' new head coach. Hood has returned to the Ohio Valley Conference where he served as head coach at Eastern Kentucky for eight years (2008-15). Murray State led 7-3 with six seconds left in the third quarter when the game was delayed for over two hours because of lightning in the area. In addition to his four pass breakups and an interception as a defensive back, the Conyers, Georgia native also had a 30-yard rush and a 30-yard reception on a pass from Dawson on fake punts. The senior averaged 40.0 yards on 53 punts in 2019 with nine punts going 50-plus yards and a long punt of 53. More than his average, the areas where Dawson especially excelled this season were pinning down opponents and flipping the field.   Preston Rice threw for 271 yards and three touchdown passes to lead Murray State to a 31-17 victory over Tennessee State on Saturday. Jared McCray and Cory Thomas each added 74 yards rushing for Murray State (4-3, 2-1 Ohio Valley Conference). Cameron Rosendahl was 26 of 43 for 312 yards passing for Tennessee State (1-6, 0-3) but threw three interceptions. Te'kendrick Roberson ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Roberson's 3-yard TD run pulled the Tigers to 24-17 early in the fourth quarter. McCray broke loose for a 58-yard touchdown run that capped the scoring with 2:27 remaining. Rice completed 24 of 44 pass attempts. LaMartez Brooks beat two defenders at the goal line and caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Rice that stretched the Racers' lead to 21-10 to end the first half. - AP College Football

Warren's safety, the first for the team since 2011, came early in the second quarter, as he tackled EIU's quarterback for a seven-yard loss in the end zone. With his team leading by seven in the fourth quarter and facing a fourth down at its own 34-yard line, Warren called a fake punt from the field and rushed the ball 30 yards to keep the drive alive. Murray State (3-3, 1-1 Ohio Valley Conference) held the Panthers on downs - allowing only seven yards on a fourth-and-9. Rice then capped a 12-play drive with a 23-yard TD pass to LaMartez Brooks. Sappington caught the conversion pass and the Racers led 24-10 with 10 minutes left. Chris Walker scored on a 3-yard run as the Panthers (0-6, 0-2) closed to 24-17, but their 11-play final drive ended with first-and-goal at the 5 as time expired.
