North Dakota State Football   Cole Payton accounted for 380 yards and four touchdown runs to lead undefeated North Dakota State to a 38-7 victory over previously-unbeaten South Dakota State on Saturday night for its second straight Dakota Marker trophy. The FCS defending national champion and top-ranked Bison (8-0, 5-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) snapped a two-game skid at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium for its first win there since 2019. The Bison have also won three straight against second-ranked South Dakota State (7-1, 3-1), including a 28-21 win at home in last season's NCAA semifinal matchup.

It was just the 10th matchup of No. 1 vs. 2 in FCS history, but only the fourth time it has happened in the regular season. Payton scored twice from short yardage and had a 57-yard TD run as the Bison built a 31-7 halftime lead. The Bison scored on five of six possessions and had 345 yards of offense in the first half. They finished with 500 yards overall and held South Dakota State to just 166. Payton's 47-yard touchdown run made it 38-7 early in the fourth quarter. He was 18-of-23 passing for 243 yards with an interception and ran 17 times for 137 yards. Luke Marble threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Lofton O'Groske in the second quarter for the Jackrabbits. North Dakota State leads the overall series 66-47-5, including an 12-10 advantage in Dakota Marker games. - AP College Football

Oregon Football   Jordon Davison ran for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns and No. 6 Oregon overcame a slow start to hand Wisconsin its sixth straight loss with a lackluster 21-7 victory on a rainy Saturday night. Dante Moore threw for just 86 yards the Ducks (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten), who didn't score their first touchdown until late in the opening half. Moore left with an apparent face injury in the third quarter. Wisconsin avoided its third straight shutout with Hunter Simmon's 2-yard touchdown pass to Lance Mason with 7:57 to go in the game. The touchdown snapped a drought of 11 straight quarters without a point for the Badgers (2-6, 0-5). Wisconsin was coming off a 37-0 loss at home to Iowa and a 34-0 loss last weekend to No. 1 Ohio State, also at Camp Randall. The Badgers hadn't gone scoreless in three straight games since 1968.

Given Wisconsin's struggles, Oregon got off to an uncharacteristically slow start, with just 21 yards of total offense, including minus-16 rushing yards, and just two first downs in the first quarter. Oregon didn't manage to score until Davison's 3-yard touchdown run with 1:07 left in the first half. The Ducks opened the second half with Davison's 20-yard run for another score to make it 14-0. Moore took a knock to his face in the third quarter but kept his helmet on after being treated in the medical tent on the sideline. Backup Brock Thomas took over and threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Gernorris Wilson early in the fourth. Wisconsin was missing many key players because of injuries, including its top two running backs, Dilin Jones and Darrion Dupree. The Badgers' leading tackler, linebacker Christian Alliegro, was also out as were the team's top two centers, Jake Renfro and Kerry Kodanko and punt returner Tyrell Henry and safety safety Preston Zachman. Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards has played just one full series since he was hurt in the opener. Simmons, a transfer from Southern Illinois who started the season as the team's third string quarterback, threw for 86 yards, a touchdown and an interception. - AP College Football

Miami Football   The first half was shaky. The second half was all Miami. Mark Fletcher Jr. rushed for 106 yards and a career-high three touchdowns, Miami's defense was airtight for much of the game and the ninth-ranked Hurricanes pulled away for a 42-7 win over Stanford on Saturday night. Carson Beck - coming off the first four-interception game of his career in last week's loss to Louisville - completed 21 of 28 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown to CJ Daniels for Miami (6-1, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), while Jordan Lyle and Girard Pringle Jr. also ran for touchdowns. It was Miami's biggest victory margin in an ACC game since beating Duke 47-10 on Nov. 27, 2021. "Mark Fletcher showed why he's such a great player and why he's so important to this football team." Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. Miami had touchdowns on six of its last seven possessions; the one drive where it didn't score in that span saw the Hurricanes stopped on a fourth-down try at the Stanford 21. "Proud of the way our guys stuck with it," Cristobal said.

Malachi Toney had 138 all-purpose yards, 73 of them coming on a pair of punt returns for the Hurricanes. Miami passed for 205 yards and rushed for 199, outgaining Stanford 404-144. "That right there was the standard for University of Miami football," Toney said. Cole Tabb rushed for 64 yards for Stanford (3-5, 2-3) in the first-ever meeting between the Hurricanes and the Cardinal. Ben Gulbranson threw for Stanford's lone touchdown and completed five of his first six passes for 31 yards; he was 4-for-15 with two interceptions and only 19 yards the rest of the way. Stanford led 7-0 after one quarter and it was 7-7 at the half. The rest was all Miami, in a reversal of the game that Stanford interim coach Frank Reich - then the Maryland quarterback - had against the Hurricanes in 1984, when he rallied his team out of a 31-0 halftime hole and won 42-40. This time, the Hurricanes outscored the Cardinal 35-0 in the final 30 minutes. Stanford racked up 74 yards on its first drive - capped by a TD - then managed only 25 total yards on its next eight possessions combined. "I thought our defense did a pretty good job in the first half...and then they got after us real good in the second half," Reich said. - Miami/AP College Football

Texas Christian Football   Josh Hoover threw a touchdown pass, Nate McCashland kicked three field goals and TCU outlasted West Virginia 23-17 on Saturday night. TCU (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) barely outgained West Virginia 343-342 but made the most of its opportunities. "Our guys just had to gut it out," TCU coach Sonny Dykes said. "The last two road games, we found a way to lose. Tonight, we found a way to win." TCU started its first three possessions past midfield and led 10-0 before West Virginia had mustered a first down. Each team scored their initial touchdown on a short field following a poor punt. After Trent Battle opened the scoring on a 1-yard run for the Horned Frogs, Hoover fooled West Virginia's defense with a fake handoff, then found Eric McAlister on a 4-yard scoring toss midway through the second quarter for a 17-7 lead.

McAlister, who was targeted 18 times, caught nine passes for 124 yards. Hoover, tied with two others for the most TD passes (21) in the country entering play Saturday, finished 24 of 39 for 247 yards. McCashland kicked field goals of 35, 22 and 41 yards. Dykes said Hoover was shaken up on a hard tackle on a first-quarter run but stayed in the game. "I don't know if he was the same since," Dykes said. Hoover took the hit in stride. "That's part of the game," he said. "You're going to get knocked around every now and then. You've just got to shake it off and move on to the next play and just keep firing away." West Virginia (2-6, 0-5) has lost five straight. The Mountaineers have been held to 17 or fewer points five times this season. West Virginia freshman Scotty Fox Jr. threw two touchdown passes, including a 28-yarder to Jeff Weimer with 3:15 remaining in the game. TCU recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock. McAlister gave his team a scare, though. He caught a 21-yard pass on third down but fumbled and teammate Major Everhart recovered it at the West Virginia 19 with 2 minutes left. - TCU/AP College Football
