New Mexico State senior defensive lineman Jomaious Williams is the first known athlete at the school to opt out of the upcoming season due to COVID-19 concerns. "I have OPT-OUT the 2020-21 football season #GodsPlan," Williams posted on Twitter. There is no indication that Williams has tested positive for the coronavirus. "He opted out because of the virus," Aggies coach Doug Martin said. "If kids don't want to play because of COVID, they can opt out and still stay on scholarship, but just not play that year. He (Williams) chose to opt out." Williams played in six games last season for the Aggies in his first year with the program after transferring from Coffeyville Community College. His season ended with an injury. Williams was expected to contribute for the Aggies at both interior defensive lineman positions for a unit that also lost four-year starter Roy Lopez, who transferred to Arizona. - Las Cruces Sun News
