  05/13/20 - QB *Mac JonesrJr/2021, Alabama

NFL teams are only in the beginning stages of evaluating Jones, who started four games last season but was never considered a candidate to declare for the 2020 draft as an early entrant. Jones is one of eight quarterbacks on the radar of the Senior Bowl, although with two years of eligibility remaining, it is not a lock Jones would enter the NFL draft this winter, Dickinson said. Jones' performance in the Iron Bowl left plenty for NFL teams to digest. He completed 67 percent of his passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns but also gave points back on a pair of pick-six interceptions. "He had a couple unfortunate situations," Dickinson said. "Ball spun off of the running back [Najee Harris'] back and they had the pick six. That doesn't happen very often."

Jones faced an Auburn defensive line that included a first-round pick (Derrick Brown) and second-round pick (Marlon Davidson) in April's draft, as well as Nick Coe, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots. The quarterback's resiliency in the game impressed Auburn's defenders as well as his private coach. "I think he played more comfortable than he thought I might," Dickinson said. "I thought after he made a couple mistakes that he came back and did some really good stuff." Listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Jones falls below what would be considered an ideal size for his position at the NFL level, which is why Walker wants to see Jones continue to bulk up as his college career progresses. - Birmingham News
