Even when Arizona State defensive tackle Jermayne Lole put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, there was still some hope he might remain to the Sun Devils program because he hadn't closed the door on that possibility. But Lole is indeed moving on after committing to Louisville Friday after a visit to the school. That announcement came before other trips he had planned to Florida, Texas Tech, and Pac-12 foe Oregon.Lole sat out last season, after sustaining a torn triceps injury in late August. T hat injury eventually required surgery. He participated in some spring drills on a limited basis did not partake in any contact activity. Lole, a 6-foot-3, 305-pounder, was a three-year starter for the Sun Devils before that injury and was regarded as t he No. 2 ranked available prospect in the transfer portal by 247Sports. Lole, who came to ASU from Long Beach Poly (Calif.) High School, recorded 123 tackles, 20 of which were for loss, and 11 sacks in his three years at ASU. - Arizona Republic

From the moment he announced he'd be returning for his senior season, Alex Forsyth has been Oregon's starting center. A back injury knocked him out for five games last season, but Forsyth is a sure-fire starter. He's the leader of the group on and off th e field and one of the longest tenured players in the program. Ryan Walk has been the No. 2 center in all practicality for the past two years, but should he remain a starting guard then Jackson Powers-Johnson could be the backup on paper.Forsyth s et the tone for Oregon's offensive line when he announced he'd be back in 2022 all the way back at Pac-12 Media Day. "I always thought I was coming back," he said. "So I didn't think it was a question." With Forsyth and Walk the first to decide, then Ste ven Jones, the momentum built to get T.J. Bass on board and for Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu to reverse his decision to remain in the NFL Draft and come back as well. That illustrates the influence Forsyth has on the group and that there are finite other plac es or circumstances where he could play. He's been at center since 2020 and there's only extreme contingencies that could alter that. - The Oregonian

If there was ever an on-field moment that sums up Erick All, it was the cold, wet afternoon last November at Penn State. Nursing a high-ankle sprain that sidelined him a week earlier, and had Nittany Lions defenders feeling confident in their ability to keep up with the 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end, All surprised everyone. As quarterback Cade McNamara dropped back to pass, Michigan successfully ran a mesh route that sent two receivers from the right side of the field to left, confusing Penn State playe rs and leaving a streaking All wide open over the field of the field. Not only did he catch the football, but he darted up field more than 40 yards for a touchdown, outrunning everyone after him. "I mean, he was two weeks off a high-ankle sprain an d he was doing that," Michigan tight ends coach Grant Newsome, a graduate assistant coach at the time, recently recalled. "I think he's a really, really special athlete." Newsome isn't the only Michigan assistant to heap praise on All, who enters his sen ior year this fall. It was offensive line coach (formerly in charge of the tight ends) Sherrone Moore who just a couple of years ago set the expectation high for the Fairfield, Ohio, native. The coaches saw something special in All early on, not only in his big, athletic frame but his natural ability and over-the-top work ethic. "We have to try and pull him back sometimes, because he just wants to kill everything," Newsome said. "He wants to hit, hit, hit. And that's great - but we're trying to be smart about that." - Ann Arbor News

Colorado hasn't played a football game at Air Force in nearly 48 years. The Buffaloes haven't had a game on CBS in more than 26 years. Both of those streaks will come to a close on Sept. 10. On Wednesday, the game time and TV slot for the Buffs' visit to Falcon Stadium was announced. The game is slated for a 1:30 p.m. MDT kickoff and will be broadcast on CBS. This will be CU's first appearance on CBS since beating Oregon, 38-6, in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 1996. CU's last visit to Air Force came on Oct . 5, 1974, when the Buffs came away with a 28-27 victory. After that game, the Buffs and Falcons didn't meet again until Sept. 14, 2019, at Folsom Field. Air Force won that game, 30-23, in overtime. Dating back to the first meeting in 1958, CU holds a 12 -5 lead in the series with Air Force, including 5-1 in Colorado Springs. - Daily Camera

Noah Whittington's transfer from Western Kentucky did not receive much attention, but he could be one of the more underrated additions to the 2022 class. In the spring game with presumed starter Byron Cardwell out, Whittington rushed for 84 yards and a t ouchdown on 11 carries. His biggest run came in the second quarter as he scampered for 45-yards before scoring a two-yard touchdown. Whittington will provide depth at the running back position as he will likely rotate with Cardwell, Sean Dollars and Mar' Keise Irving, who transferred from Minnesota earlier this month. - Register Guard

The Nebraska football team has added another offensive weapon from the transfer portal, and Casey Thompson knows this one very well. Former Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington announced his commitment to the Huskers on Tuesday. He's a former four-star recruit who visited Nebraska over the weekend. Washington has two years of eligibility remaining, as well as an option to redshirt. In Austin, he was teammates with Thompson, the quarterback who transferred to Nebraska in January and is projected t o start under center when NU opens the season against Northwestern in Ireland on Aug. 27. A 6-foot-2, 190-pounder, Washington caught 25 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns in three seasons with Texas. In 12 games last fall, including seven starts, he had 18 receptions for 277 yards. - Lincoln Journal Star

In his three-year collegiate career, he racked up 28 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks. You'll be hard pressed to find a college football coach who will turn down the addition of a 300-pound defensive lineman with Division I experience, especially when said player had more solo tackles during the COVID-shortened 2020 season than most return ing members of a team's defensive line amassed during a full 2021 campaign. In short: Welcome to Louisville, Jermayne Lole. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound Arizona State transfer announced his commitment to the Cardinals on Friday, just a week after the redshirt senior's official visit to the 502.Lole's quick turnaround in announcing his commitment speaks volumes of his time with Scott Satterfield and members of the Cardinals' staff, during which he tweeted, "It's different different out here." The forme r Sun Devil was scheduled to visit Florida on Friday, Texas Tech on May 27 and Oregon on June 3. What did Jermayne Lole do at Arizona State? A three-star prospect out of high school, Lole entered the transfer portal in late April after three seasons with Arizona State. - Courier Journal

Wide receiver Bru McCoy is looking for a fresh start with Tennessee football just as more information about his turbulent exit from Southern Cal surfaces. McCoy's issues at USC were already widely reported. But a Los Angeles Times investigative report th is week shed light on details of his departure, a process that began with his arrest and suspension from USC. McCoy announced his transfer to UT on May 3. But he told 247Sports that he informed UT of his decision in late March. Presumably, UT vetted McCo y's situation in the weeks in between. Per NCAA rule, the university cannot comment on McCoy, a commitment, until he enrolls or files financial aid paperwork, which should occur later this month. McCoy could not be reached for comment. The circumst ances of McCoy's exit from USC are notable in UT's decision to accept his transfer. But they also could factor into his eligibility to play for the Vols in the 2022 season. The NCAA allows players to transfer once without sitting out a season. In spring 2019, McCoy enrolled at USC, transferred to Texas a few weeks later and then transferred back to USC that summer. McCoy would need a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately after transferring to UT. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining. McCoy, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, is a talented wide receiver who could help UT's record-breaking offense. The former five-star recruit was expected to be one of the best wideouts in the Pac-12 before his 2021 season was derailed. - Knoxville News Sentinel

This weekend marks the beginning of official visits for 2023 football recruits, and three prospects will take visits to Lincoln to check out what Nebraska has to offer. So will another athlete out of the transfer portal. Former Texas wide receiver Marcus Washington, who entered the transfer portal on May 1, will make a visit to Lincoln as NU continues to look for reinforcements in its wide receiver room. Washington caught 18 passes for 277 yards last season, largely from the right arm of new Nebraska qu arterback Casey Thompson. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder played in 31 games for the Longhorns. Nebraska has already added a pair of transfer wideouts - Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda from New Mexico State and Trey Palmer from LSU.
