  06/24/20 - QB *Vince YoungJr/2006, Texas, 6-5, 229 (DS#3 QB) + More +

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, former USC star Reggie Bush said that UT legend Vince Young once declined to accept his Heisman Trophy. Bush told McAfee that after the 2005 Heisman Trophy was stripped from him, it was offered to Young. The Longhorn quarterback, however, would not accept the award. On Wednesday, Young took to Twitter to seemingly confirm Bush's story.

Bush was the clear-cut winner of the 2005 Heisman Trophy. He earned 2,541 points to Young's 1,608. USC quarterback Matt Leinart finished in third place with 797 points. Bush eventually forfeited the award after USC was hit with heavy sanctions due to the improper benefits received by its star running back. Bush said he had not talked about Young's call until recently. He added that former Texas coach Mack Brown had been supportive of his quarterback's choice. Texas would have had its third winner of the Heisman Trophy had Young made a different decision. - Austin American Statesman
