NOV 7 NEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Coney, Long Island, Kicker, R-So., 6-1, 190 lbs, Wantagh, NY/Wantagh, Week 10 Stats: 3-3 FG (32,25,32 yards), 2-3 PAT, 369 KO yards, 5 touchbacks, 71.0 yards/kickoff,...Coney pushes his NEC Special Team s Player of the Week season total to three after he helped lead LIU to a victory against Central Connecticut on Saturday. The redshirt-sophomore contributed nine-straight points to cap off a commanding 22-0 run that put the Sharks ahead by a 22-7 count. During that decisive stretch, he converted on each of his three field goal attempts from from 32, 25 and 32 yards. Coney, who went 2-for-3 on PATs, also assumed kickoff duties for the Sharks. In six kickoffs, he landed five touchbacks and 369 yards for a n average of 61.0 yards per kick. A native of Wantagh, NY, Coney enters the week ranked fifth in the FCS in field goals per game (1.75). - NEC Football

SEPT 26 FEDEX GROUND FCS NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Coney, LIU, PK, R-So., 6-1, 190, Wantagh, New York,...Coney tied the Northeast Conference record and became the first FCS player to kick five field goals in a game this season wh ile LIU lost to Bryant 31-29. He didn't miss a kick, adding two extra points to his field goals of 34, 19, 30, 41 and 28. His final field goal gave the Sharks a 29-28 lead with under a minute to play, but Bryant avoided the upset on, ironically, a walk-o ff field goal. A native of Wantagh, NY, Coney connected from 19, 47 and 33 yards to extend his streak to nine straight. The redshirt-s ophomore also went 2-for-2 on PATs and added 379 kickoff yards for an average of 63.2 yards per kickoff. SEPT 26 NEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Michael Coney, LIU, K, R-So., 6-1, 190, Wantagh, NY/Wantagh, Week 4 Stats: 5-5 FG, 41-yard long FG, 2-2 PATs,...Coney was busy on Saturday, as he helped LIU erase a 15-point deficit to Bryant after he drilled five field goals to tie the NEC's single-game record. Sparking his team's fourth-quarter rally after converting from 30 and 41 yards, he put the Sharks in front for the first time with a 28-yard field goal inside the game's final minute. Coney's efforts were spoiled by his counterpart, though, as Ethan Gettman registered a 38-yard field goal at the buzzer to propel the Bulldogs to the victory.
