2022 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE JACOBS BLOCKING AWARD WINNER: McClendon Curtis, Sr., OL, Chattanooga,...Curtis collects Chattanooga's sixth Jacobs Blocking Award. The Mocs have won it in three straight years, as Cole Strange shared the honor in 2020-21 before winning it outright in 2021. Curtis helped Chattanooga rank second in the SoCon and 17th in the FCS in sacks allowed at just 1.27 per game. He also helped clear the way for Ford, who led the league in rushing at 119.9 yards per game this season and totaled 1,199 yards overall. - SoCon Football

2022 PRESEASON ALLSTATE AFCA GOOD WORKS TEAM NOMINEE: McClendon Curtis, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga,...Curtis would be the first Moc on record to earn the honor since it was established in 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is one of the most coveted community service awards in college football. From the 114 nominees, the final roster of 23 award recipients will bring together 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision; 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA); and one honorary head coach.

To be considered for a spot on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, each player must be actively involved with a charitable organization or service group while maintaining strong academic standing. "McClendon checks all the boxes," Coach Rusty Wright explained. "He's not only a leader on this football team, but he was asked to take a second term on the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee Student-Athlete Connection Group this year (one of 12 overall members-all divisions). "His stature in the community is even larger than his 6-6, 328-lb., frame. He is more than deserving of consideration." - Chattanooga Football

2022 PRESEASON ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL McClendon Curtis, Sr., Chattanooga,...Curtis was a first team All-SoCon selection who was a bit overshadowed by NFL first-rounder Cole Strange. Strange's senior trip was similar with little national fanfare entering his final campaign before continuing a dominating career. Curtis looks to follow that pattern. He and junior tackle Colin Truett return as starters from an O-line that was integral to the squad averaging 205.5 rushing yards per game, the highest average since 2016 (206.3). The Mocs rushed for more than 170 yards in all but two games including the narrow loss to VRBO Citrus Bowl Champ Kentucky. - Chattanooga Football

2021 ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL McClendon Curtis, Jr., Chattanooga,...There were eight Mocs named first two between the two voting panels. Strange and Maxwell were joined by offensive lineman McClendon Curtis, running back Ailym Ford and safeties Brandon Dowdell and Jerrell Lawson as consensus first team selections. Defensive lineman Ben Brewton joined them on the coaches side, while Ty Boeck was on the media side. The seven first teamers on both teams led the league. The Mocs and Bucs matched each other with 12 honorees on the coaches all-conference and all-freshman squads. - Chattanooga Football
