Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson was injured against Toledo in the Buckeyes' third game of the year. He was in and out of the lineup until his season ended with an 11-carry, 19-yard performance in a 43-30 win over Maryland on Nov. 19, in which he also had a 31-yard touchdown catch. Overall, he was limited to just 571 rushing yards and six touchdowns in 2022 before he had surgery to repair a broken bone and a torn ligament in his foot. That, plus being in and out of the OSU lineup, frustr ated him. "There was some stuff involved around this injury that I didn't respect - not even coming from outside but inside of the building," Henderson said, declining to add specifics. "It hurt me a lot." That was soothed over by a heart-to-heart with O hio State coach Ryan Day and running backs coach Tony Alford. "We got everything we needed to get off our chest," Henderson said. - Columbus Dispatch

Ohio State has sold out its most high-profile games for the upcoming football season. In his news conference at Big Ten media days on Wednesday, coach Ryan Day said both the season opener against Notre Dame on Labor Day weekend and the regular-season fin ale versus archrival Michigan two months later are sellouts. "There's been a lot of excitement around that," Day said, "and around this team." Ticket sales have picked after attendance declined last fall and was restricted in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.Ohio State's average attendance at the Horseshoe in 2021 was 96,756, the lowest for a season in which spectators were permitted in two decades. The school sold 53,606 season tickets to the general public, faculty and staff for this year, the highest since 2017. The anticipation is especially high for both of the matchups against the Irish and Wolverines. Notre Dame has only visited Columbus twice in its history, and The Game has not been held at Ohio Stadium since 2018. - Columbus Dispat ch

Facing adversity for the first time in more than a month, Ohio State showed off the mettle the Buckeyes believe they'll need to get through the rest of a rugged Big Ten schedule. TreVeyon Henderson ran for 152 yards on a season-high 28 carries and No. 5 Ohio State made just enough long plays and short field goals to hold off No. 20 Penn State 33-24 on Saturday night. The Buckeyes (7-1, 5-0 Big Ten) finally finished off the Nittany Lions (5-3, 2-3) on Noah Ruggles' fourth field goal, a 26-yarder with 2:4 1 left to make it a nine-point lead. Three days before the first College Football Playoff rankings, the Buckeyes like where they stand. "We weren't trying to get style points against Penn State," Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. "That's not how it works." Coming off an ugly nine-overtime loss at home to Illinois, Penn State looked more like the team that had climbed into the top five before losing to Iowa in a game where quarterback Sean Clifford was injured. "I thought we were more physical, broke some tackles, made some people miss things like that," Penn State coach James Franklin said. "We've got to continue to build on it." Clifford looked healthy and sharp, going 35 for 52 for 361 yards and a touchdown after a tentative performance last week. | | | | |
