Bradford was not on LSU's roster that was handed out to the media prior to the first day of preseas on practices on Thursday. This is the second time Bradford has departed the program. After his freshman season in 2020, he left LSU and transferred to Oklahoma, only to exit Norman and return to Baton Rouge in September at the start of last season. "Tre has been separated from the university," Kelly said. "There are laws that I can't get into specifics there, but he is no longer on the roster." Bradford rushed for 69 yards on 12 attempts in two seasons for the Tigers. Following Bradford's departure, LSU has four running backs on scholarship for this season, including senior John Emery Jr., sophomore Armoni Goodwin, junior Noah Cain and junior Josh Williams. In April, LSU also lost sophomore Corey Kiner, who transferred to Cincinnatti According to 247Sp orts Composite, Bradford was the No. 13 running back and No. 130 recruit in the nation out of Lancaster High School in Texas. - Lafayette Daily Advertiser

Bradford's departure marks the fourth running back the Sooners have lost this season. The team dismissed Seth McGowan and Mikey Henderson during the offseason due to felony charges stemming from an alleged armed robbery on April 15. Marcus Major was repo rtedly declared ineligible to play this season due to academic issues. But Bradford's departure so late into fall camp is especially tough for the Sooners, as he was expected to be the third running back on the depth chart behind Kennedy Brooks and Eric Gray. So after transferring to Oklahoma, why would Bradford decide to leave right before the team's first game?Even Riley isn't sure. "I would love to explain what happened...I really don't have an explanation," Riley said on Tuesday. "It was a st range situation. It's part of the deal with the transfer portal. and then even in a COVID year, you're bringing in some people that you flat out know less about. [You can] do all the homework you want, you just don't know. "You look at the whole group of transfers that we brought in, I mean, again, from buy-in and culture guys and guys doing the right thing, we've added a tremendous percentage. But we missed on this one. I mean, we just flat out did." - Norman Transcript

OU added some running back depth this week. Tre Bradford, who spent last season at LSU, made his transfer to the Sooners official, further beefing up a position that has been in flux this offseason. Bradford joins Tennessee transfer Eric Gray, who joined OU in time for spring ball, as transfer additions at running back. The need for another back arose after Seth McGowan's removal from the team following an alleged armed robbery in April. OU also lost Rhamondre Stevenson, who entered the NFL Draft, and T .J. Pledger, who transferred to Utah, from last year's team. Bradford (6-foot-0, 190 pounds) ran for 58 yards on 10 carries in five games last season with the Tigers. He also had three catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. He had nine carries for 53 yard s in LSU's win over Ole Miss on Dec. 19. Coming out of Lancaster, Texas, Bradford was a 2020 four-star running back who chose LSU over a group that included Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Texas and Wisconsin. - Daily Oklahoman
