Wide receiver Jalen Brooks finally arrived on campus at South Carolina. Brooks, a 6-3, 200-pound native of Harrisburg, N.C, started his college career at Wingate, made a brief stop at Tarleton State in Texas, and then transferred to USC. He moved into hi s apartment on the USC campus last week. Now he's waiting for the NCAA to rule on his immediate eligibility waiver request. "It's exciting. I'm ready to work," Brooks said. "That's all I can say about it. I'm just excited." Brooks caught 35 passes for 75 1 yards and six touchdowns last season. He was named to the first team of the All-SAC Team. He had 15 catches for 247 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman in 2018. - Charleston Post Courier

South Carolina added depth to its receiving corps with the commitment of transfer Jalen Brooks on Saturday. Brooks, from Harrisburg, North Carolina, committed to the Gamecocks after picking up an offer Friday from USC. He also had offers from Duke and No rth Carolina A&T. Brooks said his first contact with Muschamp was Friday night when he gave him the offer. And Muschamp was more than happy to welcome him to the Gamecock family. The 6-foot-3 Brooks played his first two seasons at Division II Wingate bef ore signing this spring with Tarleton State, a school in Texas that is moving up to Division I. But he left Tarleton State to move closer to home because of a family situation. Brooks will have two years of eligibility left and can play this season if he is granted a waiver by the NCAA. He has filed a waiver seeking eligibility for this coming season, he said. - The State

2019 ALL-SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: WR Jalen Brooks, Wingate,...Brooks earns All-SAC honors for the first time in his career. The sophomore wide receiver ranks third in the conference with 703 receiving yards and fourth with 63.9 yard s per game. His 21.3 yards per catch leads the league and ranks 18th nationally. Brooks has hauled in six TD catches this season while adding 36 rushing yards on two attempts. He has multiple catches in every game this year, going over 100 receiving yard s three times while hitting the 90-yard mark on four occasions. Brooks had 121 yards and two scores in the UVA-Wise win, while adding six catches for 115 yards and a score against Newberry. - Wingate Football
