  2020 PHIL STEELE/DRAFTSCOUT PRESEASON ALL-BIG SOUTH SECOND TEAM: Cade Hamilton, Gardner-Webb, Jr.,...Hamilton was a second-team All-Big South selection in 2019 after posting a career-high 89 total tackles in just 10 games played - missing 11 quarters of action early in the season following an injury. He recovered and had his best game in the win over Hampton, building his resume with 19 total tackles in that game. The Forest City, N.C., native joins Darien Reynolds to form one of the top tackling duos in the nation heading into 2020. - Gardner-Webb Football

He returned with a bang, leading Gardner-Webb to a key win at Western Carolina with nine stops and posting a career-high 19 total tackles in the win over Hampton one week later.   OCT 14 BIG SOUTH DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb linebacker Cade Hamilton (Forest City, N.C.) made a career-high 19 tackles (nine solo, 10 assisted) against Hampton, including 13 in the first half. Just before halftime, he prevented a touchdown with a tackle on a third-down scramble at the GWU 2-yard line as the clock ran out. Hamilton's six second half stops were part of GWU's effort in holding the Pirates to 17 rushing yards and just three points in the final 30 minutes. Also nominated for Defensive Player of the Week: Nick Salley (Charleston Southern), Bryson Armstrong (Kennesaw State) and Da'Quan Grimes (Monmouth). - Big South Football
