Amos struggled at times to bring down N.C. State players, allowing them to pull him for extra yards. Overall, though, he led the Wahoos with 10 tackles after stepping into a starting role with Joey Blount injured and out. The FCS transfer has shown he belongs at the Power 5 level in three games with the Wahoos. - Charlottesville Daily Progress

A few newcomers made significant contributions in their first games as Virginia Cavaliers. James Madison transfer D'Angelo Amos came up with a diving first-half interception. The safety finished the game with seven tackles in addition to the interception. "I actually thought he undercut too soon and the ball was gonna go over him for a touchdown," Mendenhall said of Amos' interception. "Just proved I'm wrong maybe more often than not, but it was an amazing play." Fellow JMU transfer Adeeb Atariwa worked into the defensive line rotation and added two tackles. Central Michigan transfer tight end Tony Poljan was a reliable target over the middle, securing four receptions for 44 yards. Towson transfer Shane Simpson caught a pair of balls for 11 yards while also carrying the rock eight times for 36 yards. - Charlottesville Daily Progress

A couple hours after adding James Madison graduate transfer Adeeb Atariwa, the Virginia football program added another Duke to its roster on Sunday. D'Angelo Amos, a safety and punt returner, joins the Cavaliers with one year of immediate eligibility. JMU announced Friday that it won't play football this fall due to COVID-19. Amos and Atariwa both have NFL aspirations, and they hope UVa can move forward with its fall schedule as currently scheduled.

Amos excelled as a punt returner at JMU, finishing his career with 1,259 career punt yards. He returned five punts for touchdowns during his career, including three in 2018. He returned two punts for touchdowns in a 2018 victory over Villanova. While Amos drew headlines for his return ability, he developed into a consistent defensive back during his JMU career. He earned All-CAA honors as a safety and punt returner in 2019, helping the Dukes reach the FCS National Championship Game. - Charlottesville Daily Progress

CAA Football announced today that the Conference's Board of Directors has voted to suspend conference competition in the Fall of 2020 due to continuing concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference expressed a strong commitment to exploring the possibility of conducting a football season during the Spring of 2021, and will continue to analyze this scenario as more information becomes available and conditions continue to evolve.

In expressing an understanding of the uniqueness of the Conference's composition (12 institutions that compete in other sports in four Division I Conferences), the geographical expansion of the Conference membership and the complexity of an ever-changing situation, the Conference's Board of Directors also affirmed that the Conference's policies would permit member institutions the ability to explore the option of pursuing playing an independent football schedule in the Fall of 2020. - Colonial Athletic Association Football
