Marvin Mims is projected to be the team's number one receiver, but Woods could become a favorite target for Spencer Rattler. The 6-foot-1 receiver landed in Norman for his senior season after finishing as the second-leading receiver for Arkansas last season, finishing with 32 catches and five touchdowns. Woods brings height and explosiveness to a Sooners' receiving core that needed it at times last season. Rattler said the pair has been developing chemistry throughout fall camp. "He's a tall, explosive receiver on the outside for us. He'll go up and get the ball," Rattler said. "He's a mismatch, I feel like, at all times. He's done a great job of that throughout camp...Still getting that chemistry down, still working, but it's getting better and better." - Norman Transcript

It would've been hard to guess that Mike Woods would be in Norman this season. The senior receiver spent his first three seasons with Arkansas and looked poised to stay in Fayetteville for his senior year, playing in the Razorbacks' spring game back in April. But later that month, he announced he was transferring to Oklahoma. "It was just something that was on my mind and I felt it was the best move for my career to just find another opportunity," Woods said on Wednesday. "And as a wide receiver, you look at OU every year putting out these big numbers and every receiver wants to be in an offense like this. He regularly trains with former OU stand out Ceedee Lamb during the offseasons, which opened his eyes to potentially joining the Sooners receiver core. "I look at [Lamb's] career and his three quarterbacks that he played with. It's two Heismans, two first overall picks, Heisman runner-ups, first-rounders," Woods said. "When you look at that, your eyes get big and you're just like, 'man, what would that be like?" "You see what [Lincoln] Riley does with transfers, and what his receivers are doing and also his quarterbacks, so it was a pretty easy decision." - Norman Transcript

  04/22/21 - WR Michael Woods IISr/2022, Oklahoma, 6-2, 203 (DS#60 WR) + More +

Arkansas receiver Mike Woods is entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. Woods, who played three seasons for the Razorbacks and had career highs in receiving yards and touchdown catches last season, made the announcement in a post to his Twitter account on Tuesday. Woods did not offer an explanation for his decision to transfer, which came three days after the Razorbacks concluded spring practice with the Red-White Game. Woods had two receptions for 40 yards during the scrimmage, including a 33-yard touchdown. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman has not commented on Woods' transfer. Woods was expected to be one of the Razorbacks' top playmakers in 2021. He caught 32 passes for a career-high 619 yards and 5 touchdowns last season, and was a deep-ball favorite of quarterback Feleipe Franks. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  11/25/20 - WR Michael Woods IISr/2022, Oklahoma, 6-2, 203 (DS#60 WR) + More +

Arkansas receiver Mike Woods is on a big-play streak after catching four passes for a career-high 140 yards against LSU. Woods has 2 touchdowns and 269 receiving yards on his last 6 receptions, which averages to 44.8 yards per catch. "Give that man a nickname," SEC Network analyst Matt Stinchcomb said after Woods' second 50-yard catch to set up Trelon Smith's go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter. "Big-play Mike. All he does is catch balls downfield." Woods said the big plays are must-haves in the SEC.

"We've got big-play players on our team," Woods said. "Our wideout room is full of big-play players. So is our running back room." Woods has improved his average to 20.5 yards per catch, highest on the team. His 553 receiving yards trails Treylon Burks by 45 yards for the team lead. "He just continues to get better," Coach Sam Pittman said. "He's a go-to guy." Woods said he looks for the go-route option when the Razorbacks see man coverage. "When it's man-to-man, I'm already looking at Coach [Kendal] Briles," Woods said to describe how his big plays came about against LSU. "I just went deep. You've got to make plays in this league. You've got to make plays and contested catches." - Northwest Arkansas Times
