Don't blame the offense for Arkansas State's regression. The Red Wolves boast the Sun Belt's most productive unit (479.8 yards per game), top pass offense (349.7 yards per game) and arguably most explosive player in Jonathan Adams Jr. The senior wide receiver leads the conference in receptions (79), receiving yards (1,111) and touchdown catches (12). The Cajuns didn't test ULM in the air very much, nor did they need to after chewing up 344 yards rushing. - The News-Star

OCT 19 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jonathan Adams, Arkansas State,...Senior wide receiver Jonathan Adams Jr. tied the Arkansas State school record for receptions in a game with 15 catches for a career-high 177 yards and two touchdowns during the Red Wolves' 59-52 win over Georgia State. Adams' 15 receptions not only matched former wideout J.D. McKissic's school-record total against Missouri in 2013, they tied the most in the nation this season and tied the second most in Sun Belt Conference history. His 177 receiving yards were the 13th most by an FBS player this year as well, while the game also marked the third time this season Adams has posted multiple touchdown receptions. The Jonesboro, Ark., native is currently ranked second in the nation in touchdown catches (7), seventh in receptions per game (8.2) and 11th in average receiving yards (107.8 ypg). - Sun Belt Football

Jonathan Adams Jr. stood behind the podium with a smirk on his face. His Arkansas State University teammate and fellow senior wide receiver Dahu Green sat across the way, a grin on his face, too. After a 59-52 victory Thursday night over Georgia State and a performance in which the pair combined for 24 receptions, 349 yards and 4 touchdowns, Adams was asked whether he thought they were one of the best 1-2 wide receiver punches in college football. "Facts," Adams said simply. "I think we're the best wideouts just because our size, our ability to move, high point the ball, go run and get the ball -- just everything. I think we're the best in college football."

Both Adams and Green had career highs in catches and yards against Georgia State. They also caught two touchdown passes apiece for the second consecutive game. Green had 9 receptions for 172 yards, while Adams caught 15 for 177. Those 15 receptions tied now-NFL running back J.D. McKissic's school record for receptions in a single game in 2013 against Missouri. But this isn't the first time the two have showcased their dynamic playmaking ability this season. In fact, Adams' claim that they're the "best in college football" isn't so far-fetched, according to the statistics. Arkansas State is currently the only school in the country to have two wide receivers in the top 10 in receiving yards this season, with Adams ranking first at 539 yards and Green eighth at 419. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Records were made to be broken. Arkansas State set two single-game passing records on Thursday night in front of a national TV audience, passing for a school-record 551 yards and firing eight touchdown passes en route to a thrilling 59-52 victory over Georgia State. The Red Wolves (3-2, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) and Panthers (1-2, 0-2) battled back-and-forth offensively all night, combining for 1,192 yards – 865 through the air – and 59 first downs. The two teams also combined for 14 touchdowns and 172 total plays (Arkansas State 96, Georgia State 76). The teams traded scores for seemingly the entire night, accounting for seven ties and 10 lead changes, as neither team held more than a touchdown lead in the contest.

Jonathan Adams, Jr. grabbed a career-high 15 catches, tying J.D. McKissic's single-game record, to go along with a career-high 177 yards. Dahu Green was equally potent with nine catches for 172 yards. The duo accounted for four of A-State's eight touchdowns. Brandon Bowling also caught six passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. Five different Red Wolves caught touchdown passes on the night, including Lincoln Pare's two scores and one from Reed Tyler. A-State's quarterback tandem of Logan Bonner (18-28, 197 yards, 3 TD) and Layne Hatcher (21 of 28, 332 yards, 4 TD) had a tremendous night passing, completing 39 of 56 passes for 529 yards and seven touchdowns to no interceptions. - Arkansas State Football

Jonathan Adams Jr. caught three touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 38 seconds remaining, and Arkansas State defeated Kansas State 35-31 on Saturday. Layne Hatcher threw a 17-yard pass to Adams for the winning score after the Wildcats (0-1) had taken a 31-28 lead on a Blake Lynch 35-yard field goal with 2:30 remaining. Arkansas State (1-1) faked a punt that led to a pass interference call, keeping a drive alive and leading to a 5-yard TD pass to Adams from Logan Bonner for a 28-21 lead with just under 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Kansas State responded with Harry Trotter's 5-yard touchdown run before Lynch's go-ahead field goal. Kansas State scored on its first possession on a 17-yard catch by Phillip Brooks following a blocked punt. The Wildcats scored on consecutive drives in the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead. Adams got the Red Wolves' first TD on a 2-yard pass from Bonner. Wide receiver Jeff Foreman threw a 48-yard scoring pass to Roshauud Paul midway through the second quarter and the Red Wolves trailed 21-14 at halftime.
