2021 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DT: Jaylon Haynes, Sr., UTSA,...Haynes has been one of the leaders on UTSA's defensive front during his super senior campaign. The Wharton, Texas, native has recorded 29 tackles, 13 solo stops, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and five quarterback pressures primarily from the noseguard position. He has helped the Roadrunners rank second in the conference and 14th nationally in rushing defense (111.5 ypg) and hold seven opponents to fewer than 100 yards on the ground. - Texas-San Antonio Football

Defensive line has been regarded as one of UTSA's strongest position groups through recent seasons, and the Roadrunners project to field another formidable unit in 2021. Haynes should be the anchor in the middle of the Roadrunners' three-man front, likely stepping into a starting role for a third straight season as he takes advantage of an additional year of eligibility. After flashing signs of dominance with five tackles for loss during UTSA's first two games, he suffered an undisclosed injury that kept him out of three contests and limited him in others. He finished the season with four sacks, ranking second on the team, and six tackles for loss - less than half of the 12.5 tackles for loss he racked up as a junior in 2019. - Express-News
