Jason Taylor II, Oklahoma State, Player News

Two more Oklahoma State players will test the NFL Draft waters. On Saturday afternoon, safety Jason Taylor II and wide receiver Braydon Johnson announced their intentions to enter the NFL Draft pool, joining a handful of other players attempting to make an NFL roster. "I want to thank my coaches for trusting in me and giving me the opportunities to succeed," Taylor wrote in a statement. While still having one year of eligibility remaining, Taylor's move is one many expected following OSU's 24-17 loss to Wisconsin in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.

After taking over the starting safety role last season when Tre Sterling suffered a wrist injury, Taylor recorded two interceptions and forced a fumble in 14 games. He broke out this season, starting 13 games and recording 99 tackles and six interceptions - a statistic he led the Big 12 in this year. He also tallied 3.5 tackles for loss and was named to the All-Big 12 Defensive First Team. - Tulsa World

It's unclear if the former Carl Albert star will return for his extra year of eligibility or enter the NFL Draft. So, this could be his final game with the Cowboys. If so, Taylor has had quite a run of making plays and providing steady leadership. And don't forget his remarkable one-handed catch on an onside kick in last season's Fiesta Bowl. This could be another game where he makes another tremendous play to end things right. - Daily Oklahoman

2022 WALTER CAMP SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: DB Jason Taylor II, Oklahoma State,...A senior out of Oklahoma City, Taylor was a semifinalist for the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award and a first team All-Big 12 pick this season. Among all Power Five players this year, he ranks No. 1 with six total interceptions and No. 2 with 72 solo tackles. He has earned a reputation as a big playmaker over the course of his career and has added to that this season with a two-interception game in OSU's win over Texas, a game-sealing fourth quarter interception at Baylor and other game-changing interceptions against Iowa State, Oklahoma and West Virginia. With Taylor's honor, he becomes the eighth Oklahoma State safety to earn All-America recognition. He joins Harry Cheatwood (1967), Alvin Brown (1973), Rod Brown (1984), Mark Moore (1985 and 1986), Markelle Martin (2011), Tre Flowers (2017) and Kolby Harvell-Peel (2021). - Oklahoma State Football

OCT 18 BIG 12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jason Taylor II, Oklahoma State, FS, Jr.,...Taylor returned a second-quarter interception 85 yards for a touchdown when Texas was holding a 17-3 advantage and at the Oklahoma State 18-yard line. Taylor's pick-six marks the longest interception return for a Big 12 player since 2019 and is the second-longest return for an autonomy league player this season. It ties for the fourth-longest interception return in school history and is the longest for OSU since 2001. The play marked the third touchdown of Taylor's career. Last season, he had an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown at Kansas State and returned an onside kick 48 yards for a TD against Texas Tech. The junior FS also finished with seven tackles, ranking as the second-most on the team. Taylor's pick-six marked the sixth non-offensive touchdown for Oklahoma State since the start of the 2020 season, three of which were scored by him. - Big 12 Football

It was OSU's second blocked kick of the season and its 27th since 2013, ranking as the second-most in the FBS during that time frame. Taylor also contributed with four total tackles, including three solo stops, and added a quarterback hurry. It was the latest in a long line of game-changing plays for Taylor, who also has an onside kick return for a touchdown and fumble return for a touchdown in his career. - Big 12 football
