  10/10/21 - RB Brittain BrownrSr/2022, UCLA, 6-1, 208 (DS#63 RB) + More +

Brittain Brown burst up the middle, lost his footing and planted his hand in the ground to keep his balance. Barely breaking stride, he kept going for a 48-yard touchdown. Disappointing he had lost a fumble earlier in the game, Brown scored the back-breaking touchdown that sealed UCLA's victory. Brown ran for 146 yards and scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, Dorian Thompson-Robinson accounted for three touchdowns and UCLA extended Arizona's school-record losing streak to 17 games with a 34-16 victory Saturday night. "Coming off the bad play that I had, I was feeling some type of way about that," said Brown, who fumbled in the third quarter. "I knew once I got the ball, I was going to punch it whatever play coach called." UCLA (4-2, 2-1 Pac-12) relied on its ground game early as Thompson-Robinson struggled to find the mark and Brown sealed the victory with a 48-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Thompson-Robinson was limited to 82 yards passing, but ran for two scores and threw for another. Zach Charbonnet rounded up UCLA's strong night on the ground with 117 yards. "We did what we had to," UCLA coach Chip Kelly said. "We finished them off." Arizona (0-5, 0-2) struggled in the red zone after moving the ball well against the Bruins and lost quarterback Jordan McCloud to a right leg injury in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats scored one touchdown in six trips across midfield - three in the red zone - and McCloud was in tears as he was helped off the field after getting twisted up in a sack. - Texas State/AP College Football

  08/12/21 - RB Brittain BrownrSr/2022, UCLA, 6-1, 208 (DS#63 RB) + More +

While the UCLA football program lost its top playmaker from 2020, Demetric Felton, to the NFL this offseason, the Bruins have added depth and maturity to the running back room. Brittain Brown is poised to be the starting running back, after serving in a key backup role behind Felton as a graduate transfer from Duke for the 2020 season. Brown returns for his sixth season after taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility, provided by the NCAA as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Junior Zach Charbonnet is the fresh face back in a familiar setting, after transferring in from Michigan.

Charbonnet, an Oaks Christian alumnus, rushed for 726 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Wolverines in 2019, but he saw a decrease in production in 2020 with 124 yards on just 19 carries in five games. His 11 touchdowns in 2019 set the Wolverines' single-season freshman record for rushing touchdowns. He was also named All-Big Ten honorable mention. Charbonnet is expected to complement Brown as a "1-2 punch" in a similar fashion that Brown was with Felton last season. "Coaches tell us all the time that the energy and leadership starts with the running backs," Brown said. "We have something for every situation. We got speed and power." - Orange County Register

  01/02/21 - RB Brittain BrownrSr/2022, UCLA, 6-1, 208 (DS#63 RB) + More +

Grad transfers Paul Grattan (Villanova) and Brittain Brown (Duke) will be back with the Bruins' offense for 2021. Brown is expected to be the starting running back after senior Demetric Felton announced he will forgo his extra year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL draft. Brown, who spent four years at Duke, rushed for 219 yards in the season finale and finished the season with 543 yards (6.6 yards per carry) and four touchdowns. The between-the-tackles back also played a limited role as a receiver (six catches, 84 yards, one touchdown). - Orange County Register

Brittain Brown's arrival at UCLA adds more than depth to a backfield that also features Demetric Felton. With Felton expected to be the lead back this season, Brown can still contribute to an offense that features several returning pieces. "We are happy to have him," Felton said. "He is an older guy and has helped take on some of the leadership role since (Joshua Kelley) left." Brown joined the Bruins this offseason as a graduate transfer from Duke, where he had 222 carries for 1,126 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons. He credits Kelley's success under Coach Chip Kelly as a reason why he found UCLA to be an enticing landing spot to continue his career. "UCLA likes to run the ball a lot," Brown said. "That played a big part in that...to see (Kelley) run for back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons, that is very motivating to get other running backs to come here." Brown was a candidate for the Doak Walker Award in 2019, the award given annually to the best running back in the nation, but had his season cut short because of a shoulder injury. The Canton, Georgia native has also made an impression on the Bruins' defensive players. "I think he is doing a really good job for a guy coming into a new offense," said defensive back Obi Eboh, a grad transfer from Stanford. "He's running really hard. He runs angry." - Orange County Register

  07/13/20 - RB Brittain BrownrSr/2022, UCLA, 6-1, 208 (DS#63 RB) + More +

UCLA football officially added four transfers Monday: running back Brittain Brown, tight end Evidence Njoku and defensive backs Obi Eboh and Qwuantrezz Knight. Brown, Eboh and Knight are immediately eligible as grad transfers, although the fate of the 2020 season is uncertain amid the coronavirus outbreak, while Njoku, the older brother of UCLA sophomore receiver Charles Njoku, is pursuing a waiver for immediate eligibility after transferring from Miami.

Brown ran for 1,126 yards in 25 games at Duke. His redshirt junior year was cut short because of injury after three games. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back joins a position that lost starter Joshua Kelley, who was drafted in the fourth round by the Chargers after rushing for 2,303 yards in two seasons with the Bruins. With redshirt senior Demetric Felton and juniors Martell Irby and Kazmeir Allen as the team's leading returners, UCLA did not sign a running back in its 2020 recruiting class after signing four during the previous cycle. - Los Angeles Times

  10/03/19 - RB Brittain BrownrSr/2022, UCLA, 6-1, 208 (DS#63 RB) + More +

Duke running back Brittain Brown is out for the season with a shoulder injury. Team spokesman Kat Castner said Brown had season-ending surgery on his left shoulder Thursday. The procedure came two days after coach David Cutcliffe said Brown and the staff were weighing the possibility of having the procedure. Brown has carried just 12 times this season for 56 yards while dealing with the injury that kept him out of the victory at Middle Tennessee State. He carried twice for 13 yards in the win at Virginia Tech last week but did not return after re-injuring his shoulder. With Brown out, Deon Jackson and Mataeo Durant shape up as the Blue Devils’ top options at running back for this week’s game against Pittsburgh. They have combined to average 88.5 yards. - AP College Football
