  Wyatt Hubert is heading to Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Bengals selected Hubert, a Kansas State defensive end, in the seventh round with the 235th overall pick in this year's NFL draft. A Topeka native, Hubert started 29 games during his four-year career (2017-20) at K-State. He chose to forgo his senior season to enter the draft. Hubert ended his time in Manhattan among the Wildcats with 20 sacks, tied for eighth-most in school history; his 34 tackles for loss were five shy of the career top 10 at K-State.   2020 ALL-BIG 12 CONFERENCE FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: DL Wyatt Hubert, Kansas State,...Hubert was one of three players in the Big 12 to be a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 First Team, joining Iowa State running back Breece Hall and Texas offensive lineman Samuel Cosmi. In addition to their placing on various teams, Hubert also earned votes for the Big 12 Defensive Player and Lineman of the Year awards. Hubert, a product of Topeka, Kansas, earned his second-straight First Team All-Big 12 honor as his 8.5 sacks tied for the Big 12 lead and ranked 25th nationally during the regular season. He also tied for third with 13.0 tackles for loss. His season totals were given a boost when he tallied a career-high 2.5 sacks against Oklahoma State, the most by a Wildcat in a conference game since 2013. - Kansas State Football

  2020 BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY PRESEASON WATCH LIST: DE Wyatt Hubert, Kansas State,...It marks the second-straight season that Hubert is a candidate for the Nagurski Trophy as the National Defensive Player of the Year. It is the 21st time a Wildcat has been in consideration for the award, which includes previous finalists Chris Canty (1995 and 1996), Jeff Kelly (1998 runner up) and Terence Newman (2002). Hubert, who was named to the Bednarik Award watch list and the Preseason All-Big 12 team last week, was a 2019 First Team All-Big 12 performer by both the league's coaches and the Associated Press. Reed in 2017. He is the eighth player in school history to be considered for the award, which includes 1996 finalist Chris Canty and 2012 semifinalist Arthur Brown. A 2019 First Team All-Big 12 performer, Hubert enters his junior season ranked 12th nationally among active players in career sacks per game (0.50) and 13th in career tackles for loss per game (0.91).

Hubert, who earned votes for both the league's defensive player and defensive lineman of the year awards last year, has recorded 11.5 sacks over his first two seasons, tied for the second most ever by a Wildcat prior to his junior campaign.   Whether the college football season takes place this fall or in the spring, plenty of eyes will be trained on Kansas State's Wyatt Hubert. A rising fourth-year junior, Hubert was named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award on Monday. The award, presented by the Maxwell Football Club, annually is given to the player judged to be the best defender in the country.   Chris Klieman and Kansas State will help cap off this year's Big 12 football media days - virtually, of course. Klieman and two still-to-be-announced players will be part of the final day of the two-day virtual event on July 21. Other teams on the second day include Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas and West Virginia. Day 1 will feature Iowa State Kansas, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech on July 20. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Big 12 football media days originally were scheduled to take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 20 and 21. He totaled 34 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks to go along with a pass breakup and an interception against No. 18 Mississippi State. Hubert led all Big 12 freshman in TFLs per game (0.71), while he was second among freshmen in sacks per game (0.38), the latter ranking third in that nation.
