Cam Jurgens, who arguably would have been the most important returning player on Nebraska's 2022 offense, has decided to try his hand in the NFL. A three-year starter at center for the Huskers, Jurgens made the announcement via social media on Tuesday ni ght. The Beatrice High School graduate has made 18 straight starts and 31 total for Nebraska. Although the Husker offensive line struggled mightily this season as the team slid to a 3-9 record (1-8 Big Ten), Jurgens was a bright spot. The fourth-year sop homore cleaned up the wayward-snap issues that plagued him during the previous two seasons and played a lead role in NU ranking 24th nationally in total offense at 446.6 yards per game. Nebraska's offensive line, though, struggled in pass protection and with overall consistency this season. However, Jurgens isn't part of that conversation. In fact, he's a player Husker head coach Scott Frost could've built around in 2022 as the coach tries to win enough games to retain his job into 2023. - Lincoln Journ al Star

Nebraska's Cam Jurgens was one of 40 centers named to the Rimington Trophy preseason watch list Friday. The Beatrice graduate is entering his third year with the Huskers. He has started all but one game over the past two seasons, including seven of NU's eight contests last year. Jurgens was part of a Husker offensive line that helped pave the way for the Big Ten's second-best running attack. Scott Frost remains confident in sophomore center Cameron Jurgens and has no intentions of changing centers. The Husker football coach said he is not planning to move Jurgens despite the Beatrice graduate continuing to struggle with snaps during a 26-20 loss at Iowa on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Jurgens had five off-the-mark snaps in the first half and was pulled midway through a second-quarter drive before returning to the field for a clean second half."We need to get it fixed, so we're goi ng to get as much help and as many ideas as we can to get it fixed," Frost said during Monday's Zoom media session. "He's too good a player not to have on the field, he's too good of a player to even consider moving him out of that role. "He's smart, he' s extremely athletic and he's exceptionally explosive. He's got the skill set to be really special." But, Frost added, Jurgens can't continue to struggle. - Lincoln Journal Star
