  10/17/20 - TE Tre McKittySr/2021, Georgia, 6-4, 243 (DS#10 TE) + More +

Tight end Tre' McKitty's first game in a Georgia uniform showed the Bulldogs have another potential weapon in the passing game. Just in time to go up against an Alabama defense that has had trouble slowing down tight ends the last two weeks. Ole Miss' Kenny Yeboah snagged seven passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Texas A&M's Jalen Wydermyer posted eight catches for 82 yards against the Crimson Tide. McKitty, the Florida State graduate transfer who missed two games after surgery for a minor knee injury, had two catches for 47 yards, both over the middle. "I didn't really think too much of expecations," McKitty said. "I just wanted to go out there and play my best game. As far as this week, I'm not really looking toward what happened this past week with them. Just trying to focus on ourselves. We know it's a big week." - Athens Daily Banner

Georgia tight end Tre' McKitty underwent arthroscopic surgery after sustaining a knee injury in Saturday's scrimmage, his father said Tuesday. The Florida State graduate transfer will be sidelined from two to three weeks, putting his status for the season opener at Arkansas Sept. 26 in question. "It's going to be touch and go between now and then," BJ McKitty said. "The good thing about it is it happened now…This should put us in a good position to know exactly where we are." The 6-foot-5, 245-pound McKitty caught 23 passes for 241 yards last season for Florida State and had 50 catches for 520 yards and two touchdowns in three seasons. "I've been really pleased with Tre' McKitty," coach Kirby Smart said Saturday. "He's tough, he's physical, he works, he blocks, he catches, he does a good job." - Athens Daily Banner
