2020 NFL COMBINE INVITE: Justin Strnad, OLB, Wake Forest,...The Demon Deacons have now sent multiple players to the combine for the past three events, one of just five ACC schools to do so. All three Deac representatives have been key pieces in Wake Forest's four-consecutive bowl seasons.   Wake Forest leading tackler Justin Strnad is out for the season with a ruptured bicep tendon. The team says he had surgery Tuesday, three days after he was hurt in a 22-20 victory over Florida State. The senior linebacker had made 20 consecutive starts for the No. 25 Demon Deacons (6-1, 2-1). He has a team-best 69 tackles and his average of 9.7 ranks seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Coach Dave Clawson calls Strnad "one of those players who left it all on the field for Wake Forest the last five years." The Demon Deacons returned to the AP Top 25 after a one-week absence. They are idle this week and host North Carolina State on Nov. 2. - AP College Football

2019 PRESEASON BUTKUS AWARD WATCH LIST: Justin Strnad, Wake Forest,...Strnad, a 6-3, 235-pound redshirt senior inside linebacker from Palm Harbor, Fla. (East Lake), led Wake Forest with 105 tackles in 2018 while earning honorable mention All-ACC honors. He had six games of 10 or more tackles including five of the final seven contests of the season. A versatile special teams player, Strnad logged over 1,000 snaps last year and led the team in tackles six times.

His nine solo tackles in a win over Memphis in the Jared Birmingham Bowl ranks as the most-ever for a Demon Deacon in a bowl game. "Justin has really matured and grown into not only an outstanding player but a very strong leader for our program," said Clawson. "He is very deserving of this recognition from the Butkus Award." - Wake Forest Football
