 Marquel Harrell, Auburn, Player News

  03/07/20 - OG Marquel HarrellrSr/2020, Auburn, 6-3, 307 (DS#44 OG) + More +

With drawn out calls of "Quel!" echoing around the room, Marquel Harrell pumped out reps on the bench press at Auburn Pro Day on Friday morning. Former and current Auburn Tigers cheered him on as he pushed the 225-pound bar up and down 25 times. The number would have had him tied for 19th among offensive linemen at the NFL Scouting Combine - except Harrell didn't get invited to perform in Indianapolis alongside fellow linemen Prince Tega Wanogho and Jack Driscoll. "I thought I would, but just things happen the way they're supposed to be," Harrell, a two-year starter for Auburn, said. Instead, he stuck around Auburn, working out and practicing yoga four times a week as he prepared to show off his skills at Auburn Pro Day.

When the day came, Harrell put up "solid numbers" in front of the numerous NFL scouts and coaches who filled the indoor practice facility. Despite the added pressure from not being invited to the combine, Harrell treated the day like he treated all the game days he went through in the last five years at Auburn. "I don't really get nervous or anything anymore," Harrell said. "You just wake up one morning, and if it's for you, then it's for you. I took preparation with my coaches here and all the training that I did, just made sure that I did the right things." Friday morning, the 6-foot-3.5 Harrell weighed in at 307 pounds, two pounds below his official roster weight. He recorded a 24.5 inch vertical and an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 5.22 seconds. The time would have tied him for 20th among linemen, and the vertical would have come in at 35th. - Birmingham News
