 Cole Strange, Chattanooga, Player News

  12/05/21 - OG Cole StrangerSr/2022, Chattanooga, 6-5, 305 (DS#5 OG) + More +

2021 ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL Cole Strange, Sr., Chattanooga,...There were eight Mocs named first two between the two voting panels. Strange and Maxwell were joined by offensive lineman McClendon Curtis, running back Ailym Ford and safeties Brandon Dowdell and Jerrell Lawson as consensus first team selections. Defensive lineman Ben Brewton joined them on the coaches side, while Ty Boeck was on the media side. The seven first teamers on both teams led the league. The Mocs and Bucs matched each other with 12 honorees on the coaches all-conference and all-freshman squads. Strange is an apt term for this note. It's Cole's fifth All-SoCon selection but FIRST first team despite sharing the Jacobs Blocking Award a year ago. It marks three straight first team nods for Maxwell, while Boeck slides in with three straight picks but first on first team. - Chattanooga Football

2021 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE JACOBS BLOCKING AWARD WINNER (COACHES): Cole Strange, Sr., OL, Chattanooga,...Strange, who also shared the Jacobs Blocking Award last season, becomes Chattanooga's second player to win it in consecutive years, joining Corey Levin (2014-15). Strange's selection is the Mocs' fifth overall, as Mike Nease won UTC's first in 1983...Strange helped Chattanooga lead the league with just nine sacks against all season, an average of just 0.82 per game, a mark that ranks fourth in the FCS this season. He also helped clear the way for 1,000-yard rusher and first-team All-SoCon running back Ailym Ford, who ranked second in the league in yards per game. - Southern Conference Football

2019 ALL-SOUTHERN CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): OL Cole Strange, Chattanooga,...The big head scratcher was Strange not making either first team. He started every game on the Mocs offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks on the year. That number was second in the SoCon and No. 15 in the FCS. The Mocs also averaged 235.9 rushing yards per game in SoCon-only contests and were No. 24 in the FCS with 197.7 rushing yards per game for the 12-game schedule. Strange started the first 11 games at right guard, but had to move over to center for the last six quarters of the season due to an injury. This was his second All-SoCon recognition, after making the second team coaches last year. - Chattanooga Football
