  CJ Fraser and Matei Fitz had interceptions to set up fourth-quarter touchdowns as Richmond rallied to beat Howard 13-12 on Saturday. After trailing since early in the second quarter, Richmond took the lead in the span of less than two minutes in the fourth quarter. Tyriq Starks was intercepted by Fraser at the Richmond 27-yard line and returned 55 yards. Isaiah Dawson scored a 42-yard touchdown on the next play, the longest play from scrimmage for Richmond (2-2). Fitz intercepted Starks' shovel pass three plays into the Bisons' ensuing drive. Quarterback Ashten Snelsire found Aziz Foster-Powell for a 7-yard touchdown on the next play - then failed the two-point conversion attempt - to take a 13-12 lead.

The Richmond offense began the game with four consecutive punts, then a safety to fall into a 9-0 deficit. The Spiders had a punt and an interception from Snelsire to open the second half. Richmond had 152 total yards of offense. Anthony Reagan Jr. had 129 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown for Howard. Howard (3-2) mounted an 11-play, 59-yard drive to set up a 38-yard field goal attempt with 3:07 remaining. Kicker Matt Conord, who had a 34-yard attempt blocked in the first quarter, and made a 36-yarder in the second quarter, hit the top of the right upright on the miss. - AP College Football

  Jamaal Brown rushed for a career-high 153 yards, Andrew King added another 100 yards on the ground, and Isaiah Dawson had two touchdowns for Richmond in a 38-14 win over VMI on Saturday night. Richmond (2-2) took a 14-7 lead before the game went into a weather delay due to lightning in the area with 5:48 remaining in the first quarter. The game was suspended for over three hours. Once play resumed, VMI scored a touchdown on a pass to Owen Sweeney to tie the game at 14. Sweeney scored both touchdowns for the Keydets, totaling 106 yards.

Richmond quarterback Kyle Wickersham threw a 13-yard pass to Isaiah Dawson for his second of the game to regain the lead. Dawson had 99 yards total. Wickersham went 10 for 13 and threw for 166 yards and recorded a rushing touchdown. King had an 83-yard rush up the sideline to extend the Spiders' lead to 31. Richmond totaled 541 yards on the ground. Richmond's Lee Bruner IV recorded his first collegiate interception in the second quarter. Richmond moves to 47-40-5 over VMI (1-3), dating back to 1893. The last time the two teams met was in 2015, a 42-10 victory for Richmond. - AP College Football

  WEEK 1 PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORABLE MENTION: Isaiah Dawson, Richmond, So., WR/KR, Garner, N.C./Garner-Magnet,...Dawson returned a kickoff for a 99-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to tie the score at 14 in the Spiders' 21-14 loss vs. No. 15/14 Lehigh. The return was the fourth-longest in program history and Dawson's first collegiate touchdown. - Patriot League football
