  08/18/21 - Adonai MitchellJr/2024, Texas, 6-2, 205 (DS#5 WR) + More +

He made a splash with seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown in Georgia's spring game. With the Bulldogs facing questions at receiver, he could get a real shot early because some ahead of him on the depth chart are nursing injuries. LSU transfer Arik Gilbert, a former tight end, is not currently with the team. - AP College Football

  08/15/21 - Quinn EwersrJr/2025, Texas, 6-2, 214 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Top quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers reclassified to the 2021 class and announced he will join Ohio State football a year early expressly to capitalize on name, image and likeness revenue opportunities. Turns out he did not even officially need to the join the Buckeyes before cashing in. Ewers on Monday released his first endorsement for Holy Beverages on his Twitter page. In the ad, Ewers takes a shotgun snap of a can of the beverage and says he and his family have been drinking Holy Kombucha for a long time. "I may be leaving soon to take it to the next level but I made sure to take the best Texas drink company with me," Ewers wrote in his Twitter post. Ewers said he was signing with Holy Beverages and Hope Squad, which is described as a "school-based peer-to-peer suicide prevention program." - Cleveland Plain Dealer

  08/14/21 - Jahleel BillingsleySr/2023, Texas, 6-4, 223 (DS#31 TE) + More +

A day after Alabama football coach Nick Saban said he hoped tight end Jahleel Billingsley would "be back out there with us in a few days," Billinglsey practiced on Monday. During the media viewing period, Billinglsey worked with the tight ends in the far left corner. Saban, on Sunday, didn't specify why Billingsley wasn't practicing. He brought it up when asked how Billingsley might fit what they want to do on offense and how he wants to see Billingsley grow. "I think that has a lot to do with his level of commitment that I talked about before, in terms of doing the right things, developing as a player," Saban said. "He does have a lot of ability. He can be a positive contributor on the team. But he's also got to buy into the principles and values of the team and be a good teammate. Do the things that everyone else in the organization does so that he has the respect of his teammates. We're certainly trying to help him do that." - Montgomery Advertiser

  08/12/21 - Jahleel BillingsleySr/2023, Texas, 6-4, 223 (DS#31 TE) + More +

Alabama coach Nick Saban revealed Sunday that junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley is not currently practicing for a reason he did not disclose. Saban's first news conference of fall camp, which came after practices Friday and Saturday, ended with a general question about Billingsley's development in which Saban offered some detail about Billingsley's situation. "I think [his growth] has a lot to do with his level of commitment that I talked about before, in terms of doing the right things, developing as a player," Saban responded. "He does have a lot of ability. He can be a positive contributor on the team. "But he's also got to buy into the principles and values of the team and be a good teammate. Do the things that everyone else in the organization does so that he has the respect of his teammates. "We're certainly trying to help him do that and hopefully he'll be back out there with us in a few days. We'll see how that all develops." Saban did not include Billingsley in his injury update at the beginning of his news conference. - Birmingham News

  08/09/21 - Jermayne LolerSr/2025, Texas, 6-2, 315 (DS#999 DT) + More +

One player expecting to have a prominent role on the defense is senior 3-technique tackle Jermayne Lole. The 6-foot-2, 305-pounder has been a starter since arriving as a freshman in 2018 and he is being lauded as an NFL draft prospect. But Lole is looking to make up for some lost time after missing all of spring practice after the unexpected deaths of his father and an older brother, both from COVID-19.

Both were staunch supporters of Jermayne's and line coach Robert Rodriguez said he had already talked to them about Jermayne coming back for his senior year to increase his draft stock. "They made that decision as a family, and called me and told me 'Coach, we decided we want one more year with you and (defensive coordinator) Antonio Pierce, so we were a part of that decision and I'm grateful to his father, his brother, his mother and all of them that they believed in me, and (head coach) Herm (Edwards) and (special adviser to the head coach) Marvin (Lewis), all of us to do right by him. So I told him that, that it means something to me personally." - Arizona Republic

  08/06/21 - Ben DavisrSr/2022, Texas, 6-4, 237 (DS#50 OLB) + More +

The Longhorns have added that big-game experience in the form of three transfer linebackers. Alabama's Ben Davis won two national championships with the Crimson Tide. Ray Thornton earned a championship ring at LSU. Ovie Oghoufo played on last year's Notre Dame team that made the College Football Playoff semifinals. "They come from places that have won championships," Coburn, in his fourth season, said of the newcomers. "All they did was bring that and brought it to Texas and showed us ways of how to be a champion."

After Steve Sarkisian's hire in January, Texas added only four high school prospects to its 2021 recruiting class on national signing day in February. He instead used the transfer portal to solidify the depth chart. Thornton transferred in January. Later that month, Oghoufo announced that he'd join the Longhorns as a grad transfer. Davis transferred in April. None of the three were stars at their previous schools. Thornton recorded five tackles last season. Davis totaled three. Oghoufo had 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks over his last two years with the Fighting Irish. - Austin American Statesman

  08/04/21 - Quinn EwersrJr/2025, Texas, 6-2, 214 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Ohio State football has found a fourth quarterback for its 2021 roster in Quinn Ewers, who has elected to arrive six months early. The five-star recruit from the Class of 2022 was supposed to be preparing for his senior season at Southlake Carroll High School in Texas, but will instead enroll a year early. Ewers is the nation's top player in the class and the highest-rated player Ohio State has ever signed, with a perfect star rating. He's long been viewed as the best high school quarterback prospect since Trevor Lawrence, with expectations of one day being the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. In two years as the Dragons' starting quarterback, he threw for 6,445 yards and 73 touchdowns while leading them to last season's 6A Division I Texas State Championship game, where Carroll lost to Westlake High School led by Clemson commit Cade Klubnik.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 206 pounds, Ewers has the ideal size for a quarterback while having a frame that could still put on weight working with OSU strength coach Mickey Marotti. Ewers has all the tools and can make all the throws. That includes 70-yard passes down the field, making it look easy in the process. That's what stands out about him. Everything he does looks easy and often like he's not trying. His talent level and potential ceiling are why he walked into the Elite 11 competition in July as the favorite to win MVP. But it's also why it was nearly impossible for him to live up to that. - Cleveland Plain Dealer

  08/03/21 - Quinn EwersrJr/2025, Texas, 6-2, 214 (DS#4 QB) + More +

People who say money drove Quinn Ewers' decision to join Ohio State football one year ahead of schedule are wrong. It is not about money - it's about wealth. There is a difference, and it is one the Ewers family already recognizes. "We don't need the money," Ewers told Yahoo's Pete Thamel last week. "It's just the principle of it." Ewers is the first major prospect whose path to college was influenced by name, image and likeness income. According to Thamel's reporting - informed by conversations with the family - Ewers could earn around a million dollars in the coming year.

That isn't a few dollars here or there to play video games with fans, or for a quick Twitter post shouting out some snack delivery service. Ewers' reported figure would mean real endorsement opportunities. That kind of income may only be accessible if you are the No. 1 college football prospect in the country, with a previously perfect recruiting ranking, and you play in the most football-mad state in the nation. - Cleveland Plain Dealer

  08/02/21 - Quinn EwersrJr/2025, Texas, 6-2, 214 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Quinn Ewers, considered the top quarterback prospect in the class of 2022, said he is skipping his senior year of high school in Texas and plans to enroll at Ohio State for the upcoming semester. In a Twitter post, Ewers explained he would soon be completing the course necessary to graduate from Southlake Carroll High School outside Dallas. The five-star recruit said his decision was influenced by Texas rules which prohibit high school athletes from earning money from endorsement and sponsorship deals. Last month, the NCAA lifted its long-time ban on athletes being compensated for their names, images and likenesses.

Ewers said his preference would be to “complete my senior season at Southlake Carroll along with teammates and friends I've taken the field alongside the past three years." "However, following conversations with my family and those I know have my best interests in mind, I've decided it's time for me to enroll at Ohio State and begin my career as a Buckeye," he wrote. Ewers' parents told Yahoo! Sports that their son has several potential deals lined up, including one that could land him equity in a company that makes kombucha, but a Texas law aimed at giving college athletes NIL rights prevents high school athletes from doing so. - AP College Football

  07/23/21 - *Bijan RobinsonJr/2023, Texas, 5-11, 215 (DS#1 RB) + More +

Bijan Robinson is expected to be one of the top college football players nationally in 2021, so it's no surprise the Texas Longhorns star and Tucson native was named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list Wednesday morning. The accolade is awarded to the top running back in college football for the season. Robinson, a 6-foot, 215-pound sophomore, was also named to the Maxwell Award watch list, which is given to the best player in college football. He's also considered a Heisman Trophy hopeful for the 2021 season. In his first season at UT, Robinson started six games at running back and rushed for 703 yards and four touchdowns on 86 carries (8.2 yards per attempt). - Arizona Star News

  06/22/21 - Keithron LeerFr/2025, Texas, 5-08, 175 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Brazos County police records indicate Lee was arrested on Sunday for assault after allegedly strangling his girlfriend in an apartment complex in Bryan. Records say Lee was released on a $5,000 bond. According to a probable cause statement, an officer was dispatched to the Highland Villas Apartments where a juvenile claimed she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The injuries sustained were consistent in a strangulation, according to police, and the juvenile had a bloody lip. At one point during the altercation, the juvenile told police that she hid in a closet and Lee said, "I'll give you something to cry about." The report states then Lee "started to strangle her again." "We're aware of the situation with Keithron Lee," Sarkisian said in a statement released by UT. "We have talked with his family and he has been suspended from all team activities at this time as we continue to monitor the legal process." - Austin American Statesman

  06/06/21 - Keilan RobinsonrSr/2024, Texas, 5-08, 191 (DS#25 RB) + More +

Former Alabama running back Keilan Robinson is transferring to Texas, he announced Sunday evening. Robinson entered the NCAA transfer portal last week. He opted out of last season after rushing for 254 yards as a freshman in 2019. He re-joins former Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, now Texas' head coach. Sarkisian also picked up sixth-year outside linebacker Ben Davis in the transfer portal from Alabama earlier this offseason. Alabama had listed the speedy Robinson as a running back and wide receiver for its spring game in April, but weeks later the program added needed speed at receiver in Ohio State transfer Jameson Williams. - Birmingham News

  06/02/21 - Keilan RobinsonrSr/2024, Texas, 5-08, 191 (DS#25 RB) + More +

Alabama's talented offensive backfield will have one fewer member this fall. Keilan Robinson, a rising junior, entered the NCAA transfer portal Tuesday afternoon, AL.com learned. The Washington DC product didn't play as a sophomore last season but was back at practice this spring. He had one carry for five yards in the A-Day game in April. Alabama figures to have a stack running back room this fall even after losing first-round draft pick Najee Harris. Brian Robinson is back for a fifth year as the top returning rusher after netting 483 yards on 91 carries as the backup to Harris. Robinson came to Alabama as a four-star prospect and the No. 15 running back in the 2019 class that also included Sanders. He gained 254 yards on 39 carries as a true freshman in a reserve role in 2019. A 74-yard touchdown against New Mexico State was the highlight of his only season on the field in Tuscaloosa. - Birmingham News

  05/07/21 - Silas BoldenrSr/2025, Texas, 5-08, 162 (DS#117 WR) + More +

No Oregon State football player has made more of the spring season than Silas Bolden. As someone who was on the periphery of a deep wide receiver group last season as a true freshman, Bolden spent his first year in Corvallis soaking in as much knowledge as possible and preparing. Now, with the Beavers' wide receiver corps decimated by injury this spring, he has emerged as an eye-catching playmaker who expects to push for playing time this fall. "It's been great - he's gotten a ton of opportunities and a ton of reps," Oregon State offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren said. "I've been really impressed and I know the offensive staff has been super impressed. That guy shows up with the ball in his hands a lot. He makes a lot of plays." For almost all of the five-week spring season, Bolden has been running with the first unit and looks every bit like he belongs. At 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, he doesn't solve the Beavers' glaring need for a traditional possession receiver, but he's another interesting playmaking option who is electric in space. A highly-touted recruit from Rancho Cucamonga High School in California, Bolden's arrival may have been overshadowed by the bright 2020 campaign of fellow freshman receiver Zeriah Beason. - Gazette Times

  04/27/21 - Ben DavisrSr/2022, Texas, 6-4, 237 (DS#50 OLB) + More +

A former Alabama linebacker is set to join Steve Sarkisian at Texas. Ben Davis, the one-time five-star recruit who was a backup for the Crimson Tide last season, announced Monday that he's transferring to Texas. Davis was the top-ranked player in Alabama's 2016 recruiting class but was never able to carve out a starting role with the Tide and entered the NCAA transfer portal in February. The Gordo product played in 11 games as a backup last season and finished the year with three tackles. - Birmingham News
