Duke forced Miami into eight turnovers, the most by any team in a Power 5 conference game since 2009, and rolled past the Hurricanes 45-21 on Saturday. Quarterback Riley Leonard ran for three touchdowns and threw for another for Duke (5-3, 2-2 Atlantic C oast Conference), which scored the game's final 28 points. The Blue Devils gave up two touchdowns in the first 1:54 of the third quarter to lose the lead, but the rest of the way was all Duke. Even worse for Miami, potentially, was this development: quar terback Tyler Van Dyke left in the second quarter with an apparent injury to his shoulder region and did not return. Van Dyke was hit, remained down face-first for a few moments, then walked off flanked by Hurricanes medical personnel as he held his arm to his chest — often a telltale sign of a shoulder issue. The last team with eight turnovers in a Power 5 conference game was Nebraska, which had that many in a 9-7 loss to Iowa State in 2008. Jake Garcia relieved Van Dyke and went 13 for 21 for 198 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Van Dyke was 11 for 16 for 81 yards and a score before he exited. Colbie Young had two touchdown catches for Miami (3-4, 1-2) and Will Mallory had the other. Duke outgained Miami by only nine yards, 336-327. With the turnovers, it didn't matter. Duke turned the turnovers into 24 points, the last of those coming on Brandon Johnson's 29-yard return for a touchdown with 5:16 left. - Duke/AP College Football

After Brooks cut Notre Dame's lead to five with a 28-yard touchdown scamper, Cougars linebacker Max Tooley picked off Pyne and put the ball back in the BYU's hands. But the Cougars cou ldn't capitalize and went three-and-out. Blake Grupe's 20-yard field goal gave the Irish an eight-point lead. BYU then drove into Notre Dame territory but had its drive halted when defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola dragged Cougars running back Lopini Kat oa down on 4th-and-1. Notre Dame set the tone early when TaRiq Bracy intercepted Hall on the first offensive play from scrimmage. Liberty scored with about a minute left but No. 19 Wake Forest stopped CJ Yarbrough's two-point conversion attempt several yards short of the goal line for a tight 37-36 home win Saturday. The Demon Deacons' ground game was ineffective - 21 yards on 26 a ttempts - so they turned to defense and a passing game, with quarterback Sam Hartman throwing for 325 yards and three touchdowns. Wake Forest remains unbeaten at 3-0. Liberty (2-1) had pulled within a single point on that late 18-yard, fourth-down touchd own grab by Demario Douglas, who jumped high and took the ball away from two Wake defenders in the end zone. The second half turned out to be a shootout, pitting Hartman against elusive Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter, a former Tennessee recruit. But Matthew Dennis made the extra point after a 1-yard touchdown run from Justice Ellison with 3:39 left. The Deacons made three first-half interceptions en route to a 20-8 halftime lead, despite gaining only one yard on offense and yielding a safety on a blocked punt. The Flames took their first lead on a 43-yard run Dae Dae Hunter, who escaped the grasp of one defender and raced down the middle of the field. A two-point pass put Liberty in front 23-20 less than five minutes into the second half. Salt er ran for 77 yards and one TD and passed for 192 with two TDs, often scrambling to wait for open receivers. - Liberty/AP College Football

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 2: 7. Michael Mayer, Jr, TE, Notre Dame, 6-5, 265, 1,...Notre Dame's shocking 26-21 loss to Marshall is pushing the Irish down the ratings, but Mayer continues to do his part. Against the Thundering Herd, Mayer led Not re Dame with eight catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. Previous week, No. 7: While ND fans griped about the Irish offense being boring in 21-10 loss at second-ranked Ohio State, they should have no complaints about tight end Michael Mayer. He blocked well and led Notre Dame with five catches for 32 yards. - Frank Cooney/NFL Draft Scout

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 2: 14. Isaiah Foskey, rJr, DE, Notre Dame, 6-5, 265, 1,...Despite a second straight loss - this time 26-21 to Marshall - Foskey's game improved with three tackles, an assist and a sack. Previous week, No. 11: Foskey, c onsidered a key on the Irish defense, didn't really stand out in their 21-10 loss at Ohio State. He finished with four tackles but didn't generate much pressure. Much of the reason was he was against excellent OSU tackle Paris Johnson. - Frank Cooney/NFL Draft Scout

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 2: 31. Cam Hart, rJr, CB, Notre Dame, 6-2, 198, 1,...Hart had an uneven game in ND's 26-21 loss to Marshall and was credited with only one tackle. Previous week, No. 30: Former wide receiver in 2019, Hart became one of Notre Dame's best defensive backs, with his experience as a receiver translating to ball skill ability at corner. He also showed good physicality last season. In Notre Dame's 21-10 loss at Ohio State he had two total tackles. He was burned by wide recei ver Emeka Egbuka on a 31-yard touchdown with 5:32 left in the third quarter, which gave Ohio State a 7-3 lead. - Frank Cooney/NFL Draft Scout

Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner's sophomore season is suddenly over after two games due to injury. Deep down, Tommy Rees had to fear this day was coming. Back on Aug. 13, as Buchner publicly earned the nod as Notre Dame's starting quarterback, the I rish's third-year offensive coordinator made it clear that disappointed backup Drew Pyne had to stay ready. "This program needs Drew Pyne," Rees said. "There is zero doubt in my mind. I don't know when, how, why, where, but this program needs him right n ow and this program is going to need him moving forward. He needs to be ready to play." - South Bend Tribune

Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with an injury to his nonthrowing shoulder that will require surgery. Fighting Irish coach Marcus Freeman said Monday that Buchner has a severe AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. Buchner was injured in the fourth quarter of Notre Dame's surprising loss to Marshall over the weekend and was scheduled to have surgery Tuesday. Drew Pyne, who came off the bench after Buchner was hurt, was listed as the starter on Notre Dame's depth chart for this Saturday's home game against California. Notre Dame is 0-2 under first-year coach Freeman after beginning the season ranked fifth in the country. - AP College Football
