The award is given annually to a Wolf Pack student-athlete and staff member who best exemplify the dedication to community service that was the hallmark of longtime Reno and Sparks philanthropist Jack Reviglio's life.

Swint, a Compton, Calif. native, spent the past year volunteering with Path to Independence, a program for students with intellectual disabilities to attend college and earn a certificate, in the University of Nevada's Center for Excellence in Disabilities.   Devonte Lee ran for two second-quarter touchdowns and Nevada turned back New Mexico State 23-12 in a season opener on Saturday. New Mexico State took the lead in the second quarter on a safety, but Lee answered with a 32-yard scoring run for a 7-2 Wolf Pack lead. Brandon Talton kicked a 28-yard field goal and Lee added a 4-yard TD run with 42 seconds left for a 17-2 halftime lead. Freshman quarterback Gavin Frakes connected with Kordell David for a 10-yard TD with 5:19 left in the third quarter to get the Aggies within 17-9. Talton sandwiched two fourth-quarter field goals around one by NMSU's Ethan Albertson to cap the scoring. Toa Taua rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries for Nevada. Lee totaled 61 on 13 totes. Frakes completed 9 of 13 passes for 143 yards. Diego Pavia started for NMSU but the junior completed only 9 of 20 passes for 75 yards with three interceptions. - Nevada/AP College Football

Nevada's fifth-year running back Toa Taua was named to the 2022 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watch list, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced Thursday. Taua, a two-time All-Mountain West selection and the 2018 Mountain West Freshman of the Year, appeared in all 13 games last season, rushing for 732 yards and six touchdowns on 150 attempts. In 2020, Taua was named to the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award, and he finished the nine-game season with 675 rushing yards. He was named to the All-Mountain West Second Team.

He ran for a career-best 872 yards in 2018, earning the Mountain West's top freshman honor, and a season later was named All-Mountain West Honorable Mention. Ahead of the 2022 season, Taua was recognized by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele on those outlets' respective preseason All-Mountain West Teams, being named to the First Team by Phil Steele and to the Second Team by Athlon Sports. Taua enters this season ranked in Nevada's top 10 in career rushing yards, currently sitting eighth at 3,086 yards. His 638 career rushing attempts are sixth all-time, at Nevada. - Reno Gazette Journal

  08/06/22 - Adrian JacksonrSr/2024, Nevada, 6-2, 230 (DS#999 OLB) + More +

Former Oregon linebacker Adrian Jackson Jr. is looking to continue his career elsewhere. Jackson announced he's in the transfer portal on Thursday, a week after he was removed from UO's roster. A situational pass rusher for much of his career, Jackson is entering his fifth-year redshirt-junior season. He had 16 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, in 2021. A right foot injury kept him out for all of 2019, then a left foot injury ended his 2020 season after four games, when he had four tackles with a sack. As a true freshman, Jackson had 13 tackles with one for loss. - The Oregonian

  08/01/22 - Toa TauarSr/2023, Nevada, 5-09, 204 (DS#37 RB) + More +

The Mountain West and the entire nation is sleeping on Nevada Wolf Pack running back Toa Taua. Taua was not named to the preseason All-Mountain West team and he was not named to the Doak Walker Watch List, an award given to the nation's top running back. So, yes, the fifth-year senior is basically being ignored this summer heading into his final college season. Taua, one of the best running backs in Wolf Pack history despite playing for a pass-happy head coach (Jay Norvell), deserves more respect than what he is getting. Taua has 3,086 career yards and will become just the sixth Pack back in history with 4,000 or more yards, joining brother Vai, who is second all-time at Nevada with 4,588 yards (Frank Hawkins had 5,333). We expect the Pack, a team who will start an inexperienced quarterback this season, to emphasize the ground game. But you never know with all of these young offensive coordinators who like to flash fancy passing stats on their resume. - Nevada Appeal

  07/29/22 - Adrian JacksonrSr/2024, Nevada, 6-2, 230 (DS#999 OLB) + More +

Linebacker Adrian Jackson Jr. has left the Oregon football program. Jackson, who was entering his fifth-year redshirt-junior season, is no longer listed on UO's roster, which was updated on Tuesday. He moved from outside linebacker to inside linebacker in the spring and has been a designated pass rusher for much of his career, which has been plagued by injury. A right foot injury sidelined Jackson for all of 2019, then a left foot injury ended his 2020 season after four games, when he had four tackles with a sack. Jackson had 16 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, last season and 13 tackles (one for loss) as a true freshman in 2018. It's not immediately clear if Jackson intends to transfer or retire. - The Oregonian

  06/18/22 - Chubba PurdyrSr/2026, Nevada, 6-1, 205 (DS#172 WR) + More +

Nebraska quarterback Chubba Purdy signed dozens of T-shirts, footballs and other memorabilia during NU's football development camp on Saturday. At one point, he ran out of ink. At another, he paused an interview to sign one more shirt. The camp was for the kids. But the coaches, which included Purdy and 29 of his teammates, needed it too. Nebraska has welcomed 33 new players to the program this offseason. Nine were at Saturday's camp - teaching basics, blowing whistles and building rapport with their teammates. "We got new guys and (returning players) bonding with each other, having fun, cracking jokes with the kids," Purdy said. "I think this is a great thing for Husker football and all the new guys coming in." Purdy practiced only twice with his new teammates this spring because he missed six weeks with a foot injury. Purdy said his old Nike cleats were too tight and hurt his feet.

Meanwhile, he used the down time to dive into new offensive coordinator Mark Whipple's playbook. Purdy downloaded the first nine install phases - four to nine slides per install, about eight plays per slide - onto his iPad. He drew the routes on a blank document to help embed them into his memory. Nothing could substitute for the reps he missed, though. Purdy said he played "pretty well" during Nebraska's spring game, but he also thought he could've played better with more practice time. "It's tough because I want to get in there and show these coaches (and) my teammates what I can do," Purdy said after the spring game. "(I'm) trying to learn and read and get the physical reps, not just the mental reps." - Lincoln Journal Star

  06/09/22 - Nate CoxrSr/2023, Nevada, 6-9, 225 (DS#58 QB) + More +

Has Nate Cox thrown away his first and only opportunity to be the starting quarterback for the Nevada Wolf Pack? Winning the starting job, though, is not Cox's biggest concern right now. There is a real chance the 6-foot-9 quarterback won't even be a member of the team this fall after his arrest last Sunday morning for driving under the influence. Whether Cox is on the team or not this summer will give Wolf Pack fans the first indication of what type of disciplinarian Ken Wilson will be as a head coach. The last thing a rookie head coach needs, after all, is for his potential starting quarterback to have legal troubles.

If Cox was a nameless, faceless special teamer we probably would never hear about him again. But he's a quarterback and, well, coaches tend to overlook a lot of things when it comes to quarterbacks. But this is not a good look for the Pack and Wilson, let alone Cox. DUI is a serious charge and needs to be taken seriously by everyone involved, especially a rookie head coach. Wilson says he is trying to build a new culture at Nevada, promising to bring back the discipline, high standards and work ethic of his mentor Chris Ault. The starting quarterback is the face of every program's culture. And right now the Pack's face is captured in a police mug shot. - Nevada Appeal

  05/29/22 - Dom PetersonrSr/2023, Nevada, 6-0, 300 (DS#33 DT) + More +

Nevada's much-anticipated football game against Colorado State will be played in primetime on a Friday night on national television. The meeting between the Wolf Pack and the Rams - under former Nevada head coach Jay Norvell - kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and will air on FS1. It will be the Wolf Pack's first Mountain West game at home in the 2022 season. The Nevada-CSU game was one of seven on the Pack's schedule to have broadcast and start-time details released Thursday, as conferences and networks made their first round of announcements for the upcoming season.

Nevada will also play a Friday game at Air Force on Sept. 23 (5 p.m., FS1) in what will be its MW opener. Previously, the Air Force and Colorado State games were slotted for Saturday games, on Sept. 24 and Oct. 8, respectively. Later in the season, the Pack will play four straight games on CBS Sports Network with 7:30 p.m. kickoffs. Three of those games - against San Diego State, Boise State and Fresno State - will be played at Mackay Stadium, with the road game coming at San Jose State. - Reno Gazette Journal

  05/14/22 - Spencer LovellrSr/2025, Nevada, 6-6, 332 (DS#127 OG) + More +

Former ASU 6-7/335 offensive guard Spencer Lovell officially visited Cal over the weekend, followed by a trip to the Palousse on an official visit to Washington State through Tuesday. After returning from Washington, the redshirt junior was ready to make his decision. "I just committed to Cal," said Lovell. "I think the combination of the culture, the offense, where Coach Musgrave really plays to the strength of his players, his and Coach Wilcox and the staff's high level of coaching experience -it all felt right. As a vet coming into their program, Coach Angus (McClure was really open to me to work with techniques I've been taught previously. He's not a cookie-cutter coach where everything has to be done the same way. Whatever is a strength in an individual player, he'll work with them."

After his visit, Lovell noted that the culture of the program, both with the staff and players made a big impression on him. Tonight, he reiterated that fit played a big role in his comfort level in committing to the program. "I really like the group of guys there, especially the O-line," said Lovell. "I met a good amount of them. "I get along great with Coach Angus and Mike (Saffell). I can really be myself around them and just be me. It was nice to have that. I thing the combination of Coach Angus and Mike works really well. Mike's played a lot and was an All-Conference center. He has recent playing experience and Angus has been around for forever so I think it's a good combo." - BearsInsider.com

  04/24/22 - Dom PetersonrSr/2023, Nevada, 6-0, 300 (DS#33 DT) + More +

Everyone is down to one final chance to underestimate Dom Peterson. Nevada's veteran defensive lineman is back for a fifth and final season of college football, this time as the leader of a re-tooled Wolf Pack defense. That won't stop the questions, though. They usually center on his size - height, in particular - and whether he's capable of handling the interior, often a jumble of bodies right after the snap. It's just more of the same for Peterson, who has always had doubters, beginning with being lightly recruited out of Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.). More recently, the doubts extended to NFL teams and draft consultants, who raised some familiar questions even after Peterson had nine tackles for loss (including five sacks) while routinely being team-blocked last season.

Nevada lists him at 6-feet, 285 pounds. "I had a little buzz, but I had a lot of what I want to call 'differentials.' Stuff going on, politics; you know, 'the height' and 'the size' and all that plays a big part," Peterson said after a recent practice at Wolf Pack Park. "So I had a little buzz based off my stats, but once they start going to the height and stuff, that's where I kind of started losing interest. So I think for this year, I just need to show them (that) against good teams, I can hold a point (on the line of scrimmage)." - Reno Gazette Journal
