  OCT 17 MISSOURI VALLEY NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: QB Cade Chambers, Indiana State, 6-4, 215, R-Fr., Maryville, Tenn. (Maryville),...Chambers recorded five total TDs in the Sycamores' shootout loss at Youngstown State. The redshirt freshman went 15-of-29 through the air for a career-high 311 yards with a trio of touchdown passes, while adding two more on the ground in the 48-42 loss. Chambers connected on a 53-yard pass to Dakota Caton in the first quarter to tie the game up at 14-14. His two-yard TD run at the start of the second quarter added to the Sycamore lead, while his 12-yard toss just before the halftime break cut the deficit down to 28-21. With the Sycamores trailing 45-28 late in the third quarter, Chambers connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Justin Dinka to cut the lead down to 45-35. Following a successful onside kick, Chambers called his own number for an 11-yard option keeper to cut the deficit down to 45-42. His 300-yard game marked ISU's first 300-yard passing game since the 2018 season as the Sycamores rolled to a season-best 498 total offensive yards. - Missouri Valley Football

  SEPT 5 MISSOURI VALLEY CO-SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: PK Ryan O'Grady, Indiana State, 6-1, 180, Fr. (Lockport, Ill.),...O'Grady was clutch in his first career collegiate game as the freshman placekicker went a perfect 3-for-3 on his field goal attempts in Indiana State's 17-14 win. He had joined the team midway through the preseason training camp and impressed the ISU coaching staff with his ability to connect in the clutch. It showed on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium as he knocked in field goals from 22 and 26 yards in regulation, while his 25-yard attempt went down the middle in overtime to secure the 17-14 win. O'Grady's three-field goal day made him the first ISU placekicker to converted three attempts in a game since Jerry Nunez made a trio of field goals twice back in 2018. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

  OCT 9 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: WR Dante Hendrix, Indiana State - Hendrix posted his first 100-yard game of the 2022 season as the redshirt senior continued to climb the Indiana State record books in ISU's game against North Dakota State. Hendrix hauled in seven passes for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Sycamores' loss to NDSU. His 14-yard grab in the second quarter put the Sycamores ahead 6-0, while his one-yard grab in the fourth quarter pulled ISU back within 31-26 with two minutes to play. The Florence, Ky. native had a pair of circus catches in the game, including a key 36-yard grab down the right sideline in the first half that led to an ISU touchdown, while his 34-yard reception in fourth quarter led to ISU's final touchdown. He moved into the top-25 all-time in the MVFC in career receptions (162), while his 109 yards made him the fourth ISU player to eclipse 2,000 career receiving yards (2,106). - Missouri Valley Football

  OCT 9 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: QB Cade Chambers, Indiana State - Cade Chambers took advantage of his first collegiate start in nearly guiding Indiana State to the upset over No. 1/1 North Dakota State. The Maryville, Tenn. native went 12-for-26 through the air for 162 yards and two touchdown passes, while adding a third touchdown on the ground in the Sycamores' 31-26 loss. Chambers completed four consecutive passes in the Sycamores' first touchdown drive of the game, including a 14-yard score to Dante Hendrix over the middle.   OCT 9 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Rylan Cole, Indiana State, 6-0, 205, So. (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon),...Cole posted one of the top defensive games in Indiana State history on Saturday afternoon as the sophomore safety was all over the field against NDSU. The McCordsville, Ind. native posted 19 tackles (nine solo, 10 assisted) in posting the most tackles by a Sycamore defender since former Sycamore Katrell Moss recorded 19 stops in the 2018 season. Cole's 19 tackles are the most by a player in the MVFC and tied for third-best in the FCS this season. He added a forced fumble midway through the first quarter that ended a NDSU scoring drive inside the Sycamore 10-yard line. Eleven of his stops came in the second half, including a stretch of five tackles over a six-play span in the third quarter. - Missouri Valley Football

  OCT 3 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: LB Geoffrey Brown, Indiana State - Geoffrey Brown was all over the field on Saturday afternoon against Northern Iowa as the sophomore linebacker posted his second double-digit tackling effort of the 2022 season. The Fishers, Ind. native paced the Sycamores with a team-high 10 stops on the day, but made his presence felt early in the second quarter with sacks on consecutive plays that moved UNI from a 1st-and-10 at the ISU 27 to a 3rd-and-31 at the ISU 48. The pressure on the ensuing play led to a Rylan Cole interception that swung the first half momentum to ISU. It was Brown's first two sacks of the 2022 season and made him just the seventh player in the Curt Mallory coaching era to post two or more sacks in a single game. - Missouri Valley Football

  SEPT 5 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Rylan Cole, Indiana State, 6-0, 205, So. (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon H.S.),...Cole picked off two passes, including the game-securing interception in overtime to lead Indiana State past North Alabama in the Sycamores' season opener. The sophomore matched a career-high with eight tackles, while adding 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, and two pass breakups. His first interception set up the short field for Indiana State's go-ahead touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, while he secured the final interception on the last play of the game on the desperation heave toward the end zone. He nearly added a third interception in the first half off a tipped ball. Cole's 2.5 tackles-for-loss led the Sycamores to a Curt Mallory-era 15.0 tackle-for-loss game on the afternoon as the Sycamores limited the Lions to just eight total rushing yards. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

  Rylan Cole had two interceptions and a key tackle for loss and Indiana State defeated North Alabama 17-14 in overtime in a season-opener on Thursday night. After Indiana State's Ryan O'Grady kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime, North Alabama drove to the Indiana State 7-yard line. On second down, Cole's big tackle backed up the Lions 26 yards. Noah Walters threw incomplete on third down, then Cole intercepted a desperation pass inside the 10 to end the game.

Walters, one of three quarterbacks used by the Lions, drove UNA 53 yards in six plays to a final-minute touchdown. His 10-yard pass to Corson Swan plus a two-point conversion tied the score at 14 with 48 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Indiana State had eight sacks in regulation. Indiana State wore all-white uniforms with white helmets to honor three students who were killed in an auto accident on Aug. 21. The crash took the lives of football players Caleb VanHooser and Christian Eubanks and fellow-student Jayden Musili. After completing four years of transition from Division II, North Alabama was playing its first game as a full Division I FCS member.   2021 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DL - Inoke Moala, Indiana State,...Moala put together one of the best seasons by an Indiana State defensive lineman in program history as the Mishawaka, Ind. native tied for the Missouri Valley Football lead in both sacks (8.0) and tackles for loss (13.0), while adding six quarterback hurries and a pair of forced fumbles. The redshirt senior had a stretch where he recorded a tackle for loss in seven of eight games at one point, while posting at least four tackles in four different games.

Moala put his mark on the season early as the Mishawaka, Ind. native came out of the gates with a 2.0 sack performance in the season opener against Eastern Illinois. He added to his totals tying a career-high with a 3.5 sack game with a forced fumble against Western Illinois to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors on October 10. Moala continued his onslaught on opposing backfields the following weekend with two more sacks and another forced fumble against Missouri State to highlight his 2021 season. - Indiana State Football

  Kurtis Wilderman passed for 243 yards and rushed for two touchdowns to help Indiana State beat Illinois State 15-10 on Saturday. Wilderman's touchdowns came with 3:50 remaining in the third quarter and 3:58 in the fourth. After Wilderman's second score, Rylan Cole came through on the ensuing Illinois State possession by forcing a fumble that Jalen Moss came up with to set off a celebration on the Indiana State sideline. Peterson Kerlegrand carried it 19 times for 61 yards for Indiana State (5-6, 3-5 Missouri Valley Conference Football). Dante Hendrix had five catches for 55 yards. The win marked Indiana State's first in Normal, Ill. since the 1997 season.   Kenton Wilhoit had a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown and Jarrell Jackson added a diving pick in the final two minutes to lead Indiana State to a 20-14 victory over South Dakota on Saturday. The Redbirds (3-4, 1-3 Missouri Valley Football Conference) had lost three straight games, all to FCS-ranked opponents, but beat the Coyotes, ranked 15th in the coaches poll, with the help of their 10th and 11th interceptions of the season.

Illinois State's Aidan Bresnahan kicked a career-long 47-yard field goal for the game's first points and added a 42-yarder as the half ended for a 13-7 edge. Earlier in the second quarter, Cole Mueller scored on a 69-yard run up middle for the Redbirds. Wilhoit's pick-6 made it 20-7 early in the third quarter. Travis Theis' 5-yard run cut the lead to 20-14 with 11 1/2 minutes to play and the Coyotes began their final possession with 1:42 left only to see it cut short on Jackson's pick on the first play. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for South Dakota (5-3, 3-2). - AP College Football
