OCT 9 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Rylan Cole, Indiana State, 6-0, 205, So. (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon),...Cole posted one of the top defensive games in Indiana State history on Saturday afternoon as the sophomore safety was all over the field against NDSU. The McCordsville, Ind. native posted 19 tackles (nine solo, 10 assisted) in posting the most tackles by a Sycamore defender since former Sycamore Katrell Moss recorded 19 stops in the 2018 season.   SEPT 5 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: S Rylan Cole, Indiana State, 6-0, 205, So. (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon H.S.),...Cole picked off two passes, including the game-securing interception in overtime to lead Indiana State past North Alabama in the Sycamores' season opener. The sophomore matched a career-high with eight tackles, while adding 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, and two pass breakups. His first interception set up the short field for Indiana State's go-ahead touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, while he secured the final interception on the last play of the game on the desperation heave toward the end zone. Cole's 2.5 tackles-for-loss led the Sycamores to a Curt Mallory-era 15.0 tackle-for-loss game on the afternoon as the Sycamores limited the Lions to just eight total rushing yards. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

  09/03/22 - SS Rylan ColeSr/2025, Indiana State, 6-0, 205 (DS#999 SS) + More +

Rylan Cole had two interceptions and a key tackle for loss and Indiana State defeated North Alabama 17-14 in overtime in a season-opener on Thursday night. After Indiana State's Ryan O'Grady kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime, North Alabama drove to the Indiana State 7-yard line. On second down, Cole's big tackle backed up the Lions 26 yards. Noah Walters threw incomplete on third down, then Cole intercepted a desperation pass inside the 10 to end the game.

Walters, one of three quarterbacks used by the Lions, drove UNA 53 yards in six plays to a final-minute touchdown. His 10-yard pass to Corson Swan plus a two-point conversion tied the score at 14 with 48 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Indiana State had eight sacks in regulation. Indiana State wore all-white uniforms with white helmets to honor three students who were killed in an auto accident on Aug. 21. The crash took the lives of football players Caleb VanHooser and Christian Eubanks and fellow-student Jayden Musili. After completing four years of transition from Division II, North Alabama was playing its first game as a full Division I FCS member. The Lions will play in the Atlantic Sun Conference. - AP College Football
