  11/20/21 - Jordan TravisrSr/2024, Florida State, 6-1, 203 (DS#10 QB) + More +

Jordan Travis threw for three touchdowns and 251 yards and Florida State stopped Boston College in their own territory in the final two minutes for a 26-23 victory on Saturday. A week after rallying from an eight-point deficit in the final five minutes for a victory over rival Miami, the Seminoles (5-6, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) rolled to a 23-point lead before holding on to move a victory away from becoming bowl eligible. Travis completed 20-of-34 passes with no interceptions, connecting with three different receivers for scores.

Coming off his five-touchdown day last Saturday in a victory at Georgia Tech — three rushing and two throwing — BC QB Phil Jurkovec went 10 of 24 for 148 yards with a TD and one INT. He carried 17 times for 59 yards with a score. Pat Garwo III had a scoring run for the Eagles (6-5, 2-5). The Seminoles led 19-3 at halftime and scored on the initial drive of the second half when Malik McClain made a leaping grab of Travis' pass in the back of the end zone. BC then scored two TDs — failing on a two-point conversion on the first — in just over 3 ½ minutes early in the fourth, slicing it to 26-23 on Jurkovec's 36-yard TD pass to Zay Flowers. Florida State pressured, hit or sacked Jurkovec nearly every time he dropped back to pass in the opening half, limiting the Eagles to just 95 total yards. - Florida State/AP College Football

Alabama wasn't trying to show off when the Crimson Tide started handing the ball to a moonlighting wide receiver and linebacker in a blowout win this past weekend. The second-ranked Crimson Tide were running out of options. Alabama had lost a third tailback to injury against New Mexico State when No. 2 rusher Roydell Williams went down on Saturday. Coach Nick Saban said Monday that Williams will require surgery on his right knee and that he will be out "for a while." When Alabama hosts No. 21 Arkansas Saturday the Crimson Tide will try to beat the Razorbacks with two scholarship tailbacks available, Brian Robinson Jr. and Trey Sanders. And Sanders, a five-star recruit, has been beset by an injury-plagued start to his career. - AP College Football

  11/13/21 - Jordan TravisrSr/2024, Florida State, 6-1, 203 (DS#10 QB) + More +

Florida State delivered a comeback that belongs among the great down-to-the-wire finishes in the history of the rivalry with Miami. And Mike Norvell has a signature win to continue building the Seminoles' foundation. Jordan Travis completed a fourth-and-14 pass to Andrew Parchment and two plays later ran it in from 1 yard out with 26 seconds to go as Florida State defeated Miami 31-28 on Saturday.

Trailing 28-23 and taking over at the Seminoles' 20-yard line, Travis dropped back and connected with Ja'Khi Douglas on a 59-yard catch-and-run. After two incompletions and a false start, Travis connected with Parchment on the 24-yard reception to the goal line. "Wow, what a game," Norvell said. "So proud of our team. The coaches, everybody involved in the program. The work, the investment, responding to adversity. The way that we work. Everything that we do within our program is there to prepare you for a moment like that...It's been a challenging road. We've had some real ups and downs. But these kids, they've just continued to work, they've continued to believe." Florida State (4-6, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) has had a roller-coaster season, beginning 0-4 before winning three straight and then dropping two in a row. But now the Seminoles have picked up their first victory over a rival - Miami, Florida or Clemson - since a Nov. 25, 2017 win over the Gators. Travis completed 18 of 26 passes for a career-high 274 yards and he ran 22 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns for Florida State. - Florida State/AP College Football

  11/13/21 - DJ UiagaleleirSr/2025, Florida State, 6-4, 229 (DS#32 QB) + More +

Clemson's offense continued to look out of sorts as D.J. Uiagalelei completed 21 of 44 passes for 241 yards a touchdown and an interception in the Tigers 44-7 win over UConn on Saturday. An easy win has been a rarity for Clemson (7-3) in this unusual season, but the victory over one of the worst teams in FBS didn't answer a lot of questions. "We didn't play to that standard today. We'll take accountability for it and work on it," Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliot said. Uiagalelei continued to struggle overthrowing receivers. He played for two-and-a-half quarters despite a sprained knee ligament that left him hobbling at the end of last week's win over Louisville. The sophmore did lead Clemson to touchdowns on his final two drives of the day, an 88-yard drive just before half that took 34 seconds and the opening drive of the third quarter, "I like how he finished," Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said. Receiver Dacari Collins said it isn't all Uiagalelei's fault. "From day one, we've got to do better catching the ball," he said.

Clemson scored two touchdowns on its first eight drives. One score came on a fake field goal and the other as backup quarterback Taisun Phommachanh took over for four plays before leaving with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. "There would have been a lot more opportunities for Taisun if he had been available," said Elliot, who also said that Uiagalelei is still "our guy." Uiagalelei averages nine carries a game, but rushed just once Saturday, a 1-yard sneak on 4th-and-1 in the third quarter. It may have been another costly win for the Tigers, who at times have been without 18 scholarship players. - Clemson/AP College Football

  11/07/21 - DJ UiagaleleirSr/2025, Florida State, 6-4, 229 (DS#32 QB) + More +

D.J. Uiagalelei picked a good night to have his best game of the season on Saturday, and Clemson's sophomore quarterback wasn't going to let a knee injury ruin it – or the Tigers' chances for a victory. Uiagalelei's 8-yard touchdown run with 4:12 left in the game propelled the Tigers to a 30-24 victory over Louisville. The sophomore quarterback also completed 18 of 30 passes for a season-high 220 yards and two scores in what was a war of attrition between the two schools. Both starting quarterbacks missed time during the game due to injuries.

Uiagalelei apparently sprained a posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that forced him to miss time in the second quarter. But he returned for the Tigers final series of the first half, which ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Davis Allen and tied the game at 17. Injuries also struck Will Shipley and Kobe Pace, who entered the game as the top two rushers for the Tigers (6-3. 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference). Pace left in the first quarter after entering the concussion protocol, while Shipley eventually returned. Clemson also overcame a goal-line stand by Louisville's defense in the third quarter. However, the Tigers took the lead for the first time - and for good - on a nine-play, 57-yard drive midway through the fourth quarter. As the team is positioning for a strong end to a season that won't end with a customary spot in the College Football Playoff, Uiagalelei said Saturday was a great way to start the final month of the regular season. "We're hitting our stride right now," he said. "We're almost there." - Clemson/AP College Football
