  2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): WR Talolo Limu-Jones, EWU,...This is the second career honor for Talolo Limu-Jones after a unanimous first team selection last season. He now has 51 games of experience (18 as a starter), and has 145 career catches for 2,489 yards and 19 touchdowns – an average of 17.2 per reception. Jones currently ranks 11th in school history for career receiving yards, seventh for average per reception, 13th in TD catches and 20th in career grabs. He has averaged a touchdown every 7.7 career catches. Jones has had 16 receptions of at least 40 yards in his career, including five in 2021, six as a junior in 2019 and three more in the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign.

He caught 11 passes (tied for 25th in school history) for 231 yards (eighth) in EWU's 34-28 victory versus fourth-ranked Montana on Oct. 2, 2021, including catches of 58, 51 and 40 yards. The two longest catches set-up EWU touchdowns, including the 58-yarder in the fourth quarter which gave EWU the lead for good. Limu-Jones earned second team All-America honors in 2020-21 from three organizations. He passed the 1,000 career rushing yards mark against Central Washington on Sept. 11, 2021, when he had what was then a career-high 120 yards (he followed that with a career-high 148 at Western Illinois on Sept. 18). He now has 1,673 career yards (5.38 average per rush to rank 11th in school history) and 22 touchdowns rushing, and another 46 catches for 609 yards and seven scores in 48 games (12 as a starter).   2021 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Eric Barriere, QB, EWU,...EWU's Eric Barriere was once again selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the first player to win the award in back-to-back seasons since fellow Eagle Cooper Kupp achieved the feat in 2015 and 2016. Barriere became the Big Sky's all-time leader in career passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense this season, as the senior threw for 4,242 yards and 40 touchdowns this year to add to his record totals. Barriere, who was named the preseason favorite to win the award, earns his second career Big Sky Football Offensive Player of the Year honor after winning this past spring. - Big Sky Football

  Eric Barriere threw five touchdown passes, including three in the third quarter as Eastern Washington pulled away, and the Eagles beat Portland State 42-28 on Saturday in the regular-season finale. Eastern Washington (9-2, 6-2 Big Sky Conference) went three-and-out on the opening possession of the second half and Portland State went 80 yards on five plays to take a 21-14 lead when Davis Alexander threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Beau Kelly with 11:18 left in the third quarter. Barriere hit Talolo Limu-Jones for a 7-yard TD about 2 1/2 minutes later, the Vikings fumbled on their next play from scrimmage and Efton Chism III caught a 20-yard scoring strike from Barriere. Another Portland State fumble set up a 4-yard touchdown pass from Barriere to Freddie Roberson that gave the Eagles a 35-21 lead with 4:31 left in the quarter.

Barriere was 26-of-35 passing for 320 yards. He threw a 12-yard TD pass to Andrew Boston in the first quarter and hit Chism for a 14-yard score to make it 14-14 early in the second quarter. Portland State (5-6, 4-4) had a 14-play, 43-yard drive ended when Gianni Smith missed a 28-yard field-goal attempt wide right on the final play of the first half and the Vikings failed to convert on three fourth downs in the second half. Alexander completed 34 of 52 for 338 yards and two touchdowns for Portland State.   Eric Barriere passed for 411 yards and three touchdowns and Eastern Washington rallied for a 38-20 victory over UC Davis on Saturday night. Barriere completed 34 of 54 passes and has thrown for 3,526 yards with 32 TDs and only six picks this season. Pierce ran for 89 yards on 17 carries, while Barriere added 42 on seven totes. Roberson finished with six catches for 93 yards, while Talolo Limu-Jones caught six passes for 92. Barriere became the Big Sky Conference's career leader in passing yards with 12,676, breaking former Eagle Matt Nichols' record of 12,616. He is also tied with Vernon Adams Jr.'s program and Big Sky Conference mark for all-time touchdown passes with 110. Eastern Washington, which had lost back-to-back games, was eliminated from contention for the Big Sky Conference title - and its automatic entry into the FCS playoffs - when Montana State won earlier in the day but boosted its odds for an at-large berth with a road win over a potential playoff team.

UC Davis, ranked No. 4 in the FCS coaches poll, took a 17-14 lead on freshman Lan Larison's 97-yard kick-return score to open the third quarter. Barriere answered with an 18-yard TD toss to Dylan Ingram and EWU never trailed again. Isaiah Lewis and Tamarick Pierce had scoring runs for the Eagles in the fourth quarter. Freshman Miles Hastings staked UC Davis to a 7-0 lead after one quarter with a 1-yard TD toss to Jared Harrell. Barriere tossed TD passes covering 4 yards to Freddie Roberson and 3 yards to Efton Chism III to put the eighth-ranked Eagles (8-2, 5-2 Big Sky Conference) on top 14-7 midway through the second quarter.   Eric Barriere threw for 600 yards and seven touchdowns and Eastern Washington set a host of records with a 71-14 win over Idaho on Saturday. Barriere's yards passing set a school record, and he matched the program record for touchdown passes in a game for the second time. With backup Gunner Talkington adding a touchdown pass, the Eagles set a record for scoring throws as well as for total offense with 837 yards. Barriere also had a touchdown run but lost 23 yards rushing, although his total offense mark of 578 yards set another record. He now has 102 TD passes and a school and conference record 123 TDs overall.

Six different receivers caught at least three passes and three surpassed 100 yards - Freddie Roberson 192, Andrew Boston 175 and Dennis Merritt 102, all career highs. The Eagles (7-0, 4-0 Big Sky Conference), ranked second in the FCS coaches poll, are off to their best start since the 1967 team won 11 straight before losing in the NAIA championship game.   Talolo Limu-Jones had career highs with 11 receptions for 231 yards before leaving with an apparent ankle injury, Eric Barriere threw for 422 yards and two touchdowns to Andrew Boston as Eastern Washington beat Montana 34-28 on Saturday night in a matchup of two of the top teams in the FCS. Eastern Washington (5-0, 2-0 Big Sky), ranked No. 6 in the FCS coaches poll, scored 21 straight fourth-quarter points to take a 31-21 lead. Barriere hit Boston for a 9-yard touchdown to cap a 13-play drive on the second play of the period. After fourth-ranked Montana went three-and-out, Barriere hit Limu-Jones down the middle for a 58-yard gain and on the next play Micah Smith scored on a 2-yard run before Barriere ran in the 2-point conversion to give the Eagles the lead for good.

Dennis Merritt capped a five-play, 80-yard drive with a 1-yard scoring run to make it 31-21 with 9:42 remaining but Malik Flowers returned to ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to pull the Grizzlies within three. Flowers has five career kick returns for touchdowns, a conference record - one shy of the FCS mark. Eastern Washington's Jackson Cleaver kicked a 30-yard field goal with 1:21 left to cap the scoring. Montana (3-1, 1-1) drove to the EWU 13 before a throw into the end zone as time expired fell incomplete. It was the 19th time the teams faced each other as ranked opponents.   SEPT 27 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eastern Washington's Eric Barriere helped EWU eclipse the 50-point mark for the third-straight game as the senior quarterback threw for 518 yards and four touchdowns. Barriere became the first FCS quarterback to throw for 500 or more yards in back-to-back games since Cornell's Jeff Mathews did it in 2011.
