Another member of the University of Massachusetts football team has elected to finish his career elsewhere. Quarterback Andrew Brito, who was part of head coach Walt Bell's first class of recruits, announced on Twitter Monday that he would be entering the transfer portal. The 5-foot-8, 170-pound redshirt junior split time with Randall West as the Minutemen's starting quarterback in a 1-11 season in 2019. Brito, who played at Paramus (N.J.) Catholic High School and went to junior college at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif., was 93 of 170 in 2019 for UMass, throwing for 830 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. His best performance came in a 56-35 loss at home against Connecticut. He was 20 for 40 for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns. - Berkshire Eagle

In his second career start, Jefferson guided the Razorbacks' offense to its best day in terms of total yardage (556 yards) since a 661-yard output in a 58-42 win at Mississippi State in November 2016. Jefferson completed 18 of his 33 attempts for 274 yards and three touchdowns against zero interceptions. Missouri, which owned the SEC's top pass defense entering the weekend, had allowed 272 passing yards combined in its previous two games against South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Jefferson added 32 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Pittman said Saturday's game, despite the loss, had to be a confidence builder for Jefferson and the entire offense. "I was proud of KJ Jefferson going in there and playing the entire game," Pittman said. "I thought he stepped in there and played one heck of a football game." Five of Jefferson's completions went for explosive plays (15-plus yards) that gained 167 yards. His second touchdown pass went 68 yards to Treylon Burks, the Razorbacks' 10th pass play of the season resulting in a gain of 50-plus yards. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Western Kentucky defensive tackle Ricky Barber has been named to the 2020 Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American watch list, the organization announced Thursday. Barber is one of nine defensive linemen listed, including one of only two from Group of Five programs. The redshirt freshman from Louisville has produced 43 total tackles, including six tackles for loss and four sacks in the Hilltoppers' 10 games. He has also added two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. UCF senior receiver Marlon Williams is opting out of the remainder of the 2020 season to focus on the upcoming NFL draft. The Alabama native is coming off a career best regular season, during which he led the American Athletic Conference in receiving yards (1,039), receptions (71) and receiving touchdowns (10). His 2,260 career receiving yards in 46 career appearances ranks 10th overall in school history and his 19 career touchdowns and 157 career receptions put him at No. 9 all-time in program history. UCF now must wait until Dec. 20 before finding out where it will play this postseason. The Knights would prefer to stay in the state of Florida due to COVID-19 challenges. A former Auburn quarterback is back on the transfer market. Woody Barrett, who transferred to Kent State in 2018, entered the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, AL.com has learned. Barrett, a four-star member of Auburn's 2016 signing class, left the Tigers in 2017 and then transferred to Kent State after spending the 2017 season at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He was Kent State's starting quarterback in 2018 but started only one game last year and was the team's backup through four games this season. - Birmingham News
