Central Florida Football   UCF's Jaden Nixon opened the game with a 92-yard touchdown return and added touchdown runs of 87 and 66 yards as UCF never looked back in a dominant 68-7 victory over North Carolina A&T. Nixon ran for 156 yards on four carries and two touchdowns. His 87-yard touchdown run was the third-longest in UCF's history. The Knights also fell five points short of setting the program record for points scored in a game.

The Knights (2-0) took that opening kickoff and kept on running, steamrolling the Aggies even when many of the team's reserves came into the game. Backup quarterback Jacurri Brown took over in the second half and rushed for 106 yards on five carries, including a 60-yard touchdown run. The Knights' defense stepped up, too, recording two sacks and forcing three turnovers. That included a strip sack by defensive lineman Nyjalik Kelly that was recovered in the endzone by Rodney Lora. UCF outgained North Carolina A&T 560-200 in the game. Shimique Blizzard got the Aggies on the board with a 17-yard touchdown run with three minutes to play. - UCF/AP College Football

Southern California Football   Makai Lemon made touchdown catches of 62 and 74 yards in the first quarter, Jayden Maiava passed for 412 yards and four scores, and Southern California trounced former coach Clay Helton's Georgia Southern 59-20 Saturday night. Waymond Jordan rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown, and Ja'Kobi Lane made an exceptional one-handed TD catch as the Trojans (2-0) racked up 755 total yards. Walker Lyons also caught a TD pass, while Eli Sanders ran for two scores. Helton spent parts of eight seasons as the head coach at USC, winning a Rose Bowl and a Pac-12 title. He also failed to achieve the national championship contention demanded of USC coaches before he was fired two games into the 2021 season. The Coliseum did the rare honor of welcoming Helton by name while he led Georgia Southern onto the famed field Saturday, although he was greeted mostly with boos.

Camden Brown caught two TD passes in the first half for the Eagles, who have begun Helton's fourth season with road losses to Fresno State and USC by a combined 101-34. In his second game at USC, juco transfer Jordan rushed for more yards than any tailback in Lincoln Riley's four-year tenure. Maiava's 412 yards passing were the 14th-most in USC history, boosted by four pass plays longer than 50 yards. But Georgia Southern led less than two minutes after the opening kickoff when Jordan fumbled and Brown caught a 32-yard TD pass from Weston Bryan on the first career throw by the freshman quarterback. USC answered with that one-handed TD catch by Lane, who hauled in Maiava's throw despite defensive pass interference. Less than two minutes later, Lemon turned a short reception into a 62-yard TD romp through the Eagles' secondary. Jordan made a 36-yard TD run early in the second half. King Miller made a 41-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. - USC/AP College Football

Richmond Football   Kyle Wickersham passed for the game's first touchdown and ran for the game-winner in the fourth quarter, lifting Richmond to a 14-10 victory over Wofford on Saturday night. Wickersham's 11-yard pass to Andrew King gave the Spiders (1-1) a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. He had a hand in Wofford's tying touchdown as his interception late in the first quarter was returned by CJ Coombes 72 yards for a score. The Terriers (0-2) took a 10-7 lead on Sam Spence's 47-yard field goal on the first drive of the third quarter.

Later in the third, Wickersham led the Spiders on a nine-play, 54-yard drive that stretched into the first minute of the fourth quarter. He connected with Andreas Hill for 17 yards on a fourth-down play and on the second play of the fourth quarter Wickersham ran it in from 10 yards out. Wofford had a promising drive late in the game but turned it over on downs at the Richmond 35 with 1:40 remaining. Wickersham passed for 153 yards and ran for 78. Richmond outgained Wofford 272 yards to 158. The game started late after a lengthy weather delay. - AP College Football

Stetson carried a 38-3 lead into halftime after Warner's Ethan Silva kicked a 42-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

The Hatters had two straight long touchdown drives, as Michael Dempsey caught a 46-yard touchdown and Dylan Redmond reeled in a 67-yarder for a score.   Missouri State Football   Jacob Clark threw for three touchdowns and 359 yards and led a late drive to send Missouri State past Marshall 21-20, giving the Bears their first win as an FBS program on Saturday. Clark helped lead a nine-play, 80-yard drive that ended with his 8-yard scoring pass to Jeron Askren with 2:12 remaining. The Missouri State (1-1) defense forced Marshall to turn it over on downs as the Thundering Herd (0-2) lost 5 yards in four plays. Missouri State took over and proceeded to kill the clock. In the third, Clark threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jmariyae Robinson with 7:59 left in the third quarter to bring Missouri State within 20-14.   Purdue Football   Devin Mockobee rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns, Ryan Browne passed for two scores, and Purdue limited Southern Illinois to a field goal in the last three quarters in a 34-17 home triumph on Saturday. Both of Mockobee's 1-yard scores were on direct snaps in the Wildcat formation as the senior's first TD pushed Purdue's lead to 24-14 just before halftime and his second touchdown made it 34-14 early in the fourth quarter. "We know that we're going to have to be a running team," Purdue coach Barry Odom said. "Devin had a big workload tonight. He continues to make plays. He's a tough kid, a great competitor."

It was the first multi-score game of Mockobee's career. "It's a great feeling obviously," Mockobee said of Purdue (2-0) doubling its win total from last year. "When you get to a point where you're winning games, it's always better to win ‘em than lose 'em." Each of Browne's scoring passes tied the game in the opening quarter as he hit Armad Branch on a 13-yard play and Nitro Tuttle on a 29-yard slant pass. The Boilermakers defense, which blanked Ball State 31-0 in the opener, generated three sacks and seven tackles for loss. - Purdue/AP College Football

Cameran Brown had a touchdown running and passing for the Panthers (0-2), stepping in for starter TJ Finley. Finley was injured after starting the game 10-for-10. The former LSU, Auburn, Texas State and Western Kentucky quarterback, who was activated just this week, returned for the second half.   Nebraska Football   Dylan Raiola threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns and Emmett Johnson ran for 140 yards and scored three times to lead Nebraska past Akron 68-0 on Saturday night. The Cornhuskers (2-0) turned in their most prodigious offensive performance against a Bowl Subdivision opponent in more than a decade. They recorded their most points in a game since 2007 and most yards in a game since 2014. They posted their first shutout since a 33-0 Holiday Bowl win over Arizona in 2009. The Zips (0-2), who opened the season with a 10-0 loss to Wyoming at home, were held scoreless for a second straight game.

Johnson broke a 47-yard touchdown run on the game's opening possession, caught a 4-yard TD pass in the second quarter and ran 6 yards for a score in the third. Johnson was the first Nebraska player with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games since Anthony Grant had three straight to open the 2022 season. Raiola gave way to freshman backup TJ Lateef after he threaded a perfect strike to Dane Key in the end zone for a 47-0 lead in the third quarter. Akron had two good chances to score its first points of the season. But Owen Wiley's 49-yard field goal attempt bounced off the left upright in the final seconds of the first half, and Riley Van Poppel blocked Wiley's 33-yard try in the third quarter. - Nebraska/AP College Football

Tarleton State Football   Victor Gabalis threw five of Tarleton State's six touchdown passes and the Texans beat Mississippi Valley State 59-3 Saturday night. The victory for the Texans (3-0), ranked No. 3 in the FCS coaches poll, comes a week after beating Army at West Point 30-27 in double-overtime. Bryce Parker caught two touchdown passes and Trevon West finished with 135 yards receiving on six receptions. The Texans had 460 yards offense to 244 for the Delta Devils (1-1), who had just 50 yards on the ground.   LSU Football   Garrett Nussmeier passed for 237 yards and a touchdown and No. 3 LSU held Louisiana Tech to 154 total yards in a 23-7 victory on Saturday night. Caden Durham rushed for a 3-yard touchdown for LSU (2-0), which was favored by about five touchdowns but didn't lead by more than 10 points until late in the third quarter. "We're not happy with production across the board," LSU coach Brian Kelly said. "I'm not happy with the performance, but it's a win." LSU's defense did its part, shutting out the Bulldogs (1-1) until reserve quarterback Blake Baker's 33-yard scoring pass to Devin Gandy with 4:02 left in the game.

The Tigers outgained Louisiana Tech by 211 yards and LSU held a large advantage in time of possession, 36:52 to 23:08. Barion Brown caught eight passes for 94 yards for the Tigers and got a game ball for his effort. Brown, a transfer from Kentucky, "balled out," Kelly said. "That's what we expected from him." Fellow Tigers receiver Aaron Anderson had eight catches for 73 yards. But the Bulldogs frustrated Nussmeier and Co. on a handful of possessions, forcing a turnover, three punts and four field goal attempts, one of which failed. LSU rushed for 128 yards - and Kelly said "a lack of execution by coaches and players alike" made it tough for the Tigers to finish drives and pull away on the scoreboard. - LSU/AP College Football
