  SEPT 2/WEEK 1 BIG SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Alabama punter/kicker Joe Gurley averaged 40.0 yards on seven punts and scored eight points (two field goals, two PATs) in North Alabama's season-opening win. He converted a 48-yard field goal to stretch UNA's lead to 9-0 in the second quarter, and added a 42-yarder to close out the first half to keep the Lions ahead, 19-14. Gurley booted a long punt of 54 yards and had two land inside WIU's 20-yard line. Also nominated for Special Teams Player of the Week: Brad Dennis (Campbell), Kyle Reighard (Charleston Southern), Devron Harper (Gardner-Webb), Evan Lomax (Hampton) and Nathan Robertson (Kennesaw State). - Big South Football
