  Draft Scout by Conference

UCF football was picked to finish third in the 2022 American Athletic Conference football preseason media poll released Thursday. The Knights, who received seven first-place votes and a total of 225 point, trail behind only Houston and defending league champion Cincinnati. The Cougars received seven of a possible 24 first-place votes to finish with 243 points in the poll, while the Bearcats were second at 242 points, despite the Bearcats' receiving 10 first-place votes. SMU was fourth with 187 points as first-year head coach Rhett Lashlee will have quarterback Tanner Mordecai back. Memphis was chosen fifth, ECU sixth, Tulane seventh, Tulsa eighth, South Florida ninth, Navy tenth and Temple last. The preseason media poll correctly picked Cincinnati as the AAC's champion last year. The Bearcats became the first Group of Five squad to make the College Football Playoff. This year, the Knights return a ton of talent at key positions including wide receiver Ryan O'Keefe, running back Isaiah Bowser, and defensive back Divaad Wilson. - Orlando Sentinel
