  06/02/22 - QB Brady CookrSr/2025, Missouri

With last year's primary starter, Connor Bazelak, gone after transferring to Indiana in the offseason, Tiger head coach Eli Drinkwitz will have a choice to make. As it currently stands, Drinkwitz will have five quarterbacks on the roster to choose from. After Bazelak threw for just 65 yards and an interception against Arkansas, Eli Drinkwitz reopened Missouri's quarterback competition. When the Tigers lined up against Army in the Armed Forces Bowl, it was Cook who got the start. Cook performed adequately in the loss, showing off a mobility Bazelak never did. He completed 27 of 34 passes and a touchdown and ran for 53 yards and another score on nine carries.

Despite his best efforts, Missouri lost the game on an Army field goal as time expired. "I thought he played really well. Very calm, collected," Drinkwitz said of Cook after the bowl game. "I thought he had great composure, did a really nice job on that last drive to give us a chance to win the game." Cook came to Missouri from St. Louis, where he attended Chaminade High School. He left high school as a three-star prospect before seeing action in three games as a true freshman in 2020 before playing in five during the 2021 campaign. He finished last season with 345 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air. He rushed for 93 total yards. In Missouri's spring game, he threw for 191 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, completing 16 of 20 passes according to the unofficial stats. - Columbia Daily Tribune
