2019 PRESEASON PHIL STEELE/DRAFT SCOUT ALL-FCS FOURTH TEAM: Mason Bennett, North Dakota, Sr.,...Bennett opened eyes nationally with his play in 2018 by pacing the Fighting Hawk defense with 9.0 sacks. The Winnipeg, Man., native finished just two sacks shy of the single-season record for sacks at UND, set in 1999 (Wes Atkinson) and tied in 2001 by current defensive coordinator Eric Schmidt (11.0).

The Canadian also led UND with 15.0 tackles for loss and seven quarterback hurries, a statistic not kept by all universities. Bennett recorded multiple sacks in four games, including a pair of two-sack contests in wins over Mississippi Valley State and No. 5/6 Sam Houston State. He also tallied a fumble recovery at Idaho and had a pair of games with three TFLs (vs. MVSU and at Sacramento State). - North Dakota Football
