  The Miami University football team was picked to finish third in the East Division in the 2021 Mid-American Conference preseason poll. The poll was conducted by 22 MAC media members and was announced at the league's annual media day in Detroit, Mich. at Ford Field on Tuesday morning. Kent State was picked to win the East with 112 points, followed by Ohio (96 points) and Miami (94 points). Finishing out the East were Buffalo (93 points), Akron (39 points) and Bowling Green (28 points).

In the West, Ball State was picked to defend its West crown with 114 points. Rounding out the division were Toledo (104 points), Western Michigan (103 points), Central Michigan (68 points), Eastern Michigan (44 points) and Northern Illinois (29 points). Miami is 25-9 it its last 34 MAC contests, best in the conference and won the 2019 MAC Championship. The RedHawks return 19 starters from its shortened 2020 season. - Miami OH Football
