Wide receiver Khalil Shakir and offensive lineman Jake Stetz were named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-Mountain West First Team. The duo led a group of 15 Broncos selected overall, tying Boise State with Nevada and San Jose State for tops in the conference. Shakir recorded 52 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. He added 148 rushing yards and was one of only two players nationally with 700 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing last season. He was a Pro Football Focus Honorable Mention All-American and All-Mountain First-Team honoree who led the Mountain West (10th nationally) with 7.43 receptions per game. Stetz, along with Garrett Curran (second team) and John Ojukwu (second team), were the only Broncos who started every game on the offensive line last season. Ojukwu and Stetz were All-Mountain West Second Team in 2020 while Curran received honorable mention. - Lewiston Tribune
