Cincinnati's Desmond Ridder now has more than 5,000 career passing yards after a 258-yard, two-touchdown performance in the Bearcats' 24-10 win last week over then-No. 22 Army. The junior quarterback's 5,063 career yards rank seventh in program history. Ridder is only the eighth Bearcats quarterback to eclipse the 5,000-yard mark. Ridder's play has caught the eye of first-year South Florida coach Jeff Scott. "I think their quarterback has a chance to be an NFL guy, looking at his arm and accuracy and those type of things," Scott said of the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Ridder. Scott knows NFL-caliber talent. The former Clemson wide receiver was the co-offensive coordinator at his alma mater until December, when he was hired by USF. At 38, Scott became the youngest head coach in the American Athletic Conference. In his five seasons at the helm of the Clemson offense, the Tigers made five straight College Football Playoff appearances, advanced to four CFP championship games and won two national titles. - Cincinnati Enquirer
