Draft Scout College Football Player News

Linebacker Grant Stuard will be the first UH player to ever wear No. 0 in a game after the NCAA's rule change that allows players to wear that number. Back in 1972, linebacker Bubba Broussard attempted to wear the game. A few days before the season opener, SWC director of officials Cliff Speegle informed head coach Bill Yeoman that only numbers 1 through 99 were allowed under NCAA rules, according to an account in the Chronicle. At the same time, linebacker Charles Evans had attempted to wear "00." Broussard instead wore No. 2 and Evans returned to his old No. 59. Stuard, a senior team captain, said he chose to wear No. 0 because it's the number of his favorite basketball player, Russell Westbrook. "Honestly, I always wanted to wear No. 0," Stuard said. "When 0 became available I just felt like that was for me." - Houston Chronicle
