It would have been understandable if Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson had been hesitant about helping his coaches when Vince Marrow came searching for a player to host a high-profile recruit. Wilson was rehabbing his way back from a left knee injury that ended his 2019 season after just two games. The recruit was Auburn quarterback transfer Joey Gatewood, who was hoping to gain a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately for his new school in 2020. If Kentucky landed Gatewood and the waiver was granted, Wilson might be helping to woo the player who could take his starting job.

"Each recruit that we get, it's with open arms," Wilson said Saturday in his first interview with local reporters since the injury. "... He's a great player. He's big, he can throw the ball. Anything I can do to get the players that we need for this football team, this university, I'm all in for it." Gatewood eventually committed to Kentucky and enrolled at UK for the spring semester. He is one of four healthy scholarship quarterbacks participating in spring practice as Wilson watches from the sideline. - Courier Journal
