  11/06/21 - QB Christian AndersonrSr/2022, Army, 6-0, 195 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Jordyn Law recovered teammate Christian Anderson's fumble at the goal line for an overtime touchdown and Army defeated Air Force 21-14 on Saturday. After Law's game-saving recovery, the Black Knights (5-3) denied the Falcons (6-3) the end zone when Jabari Moore broke-up Haaziq Daniels' fourth-down pass. The victory means Army can do no worse than a tie for the Commander-in-Chief's trophy, which goes to the service academy with the best record in round-robin competition. Army will retain the prize whether it wins or loses against Navy in December as Air Force defeated the Midshipmen earlier this season. Army came in having won three of the past four trophies.

Air Force tied the game on Matthew Depore's second field goal of the game, a 30-yarder with 23 seconds left in regulation. They had reached the Army 11 before a 15-yard chop-block penalty stalled the drive. After a scoreless first half, Army took the second-half kickoff and with the help of a 39-yard pass from Tyhier Tyler to Tyrell Robinson, scored on Tyler's 9-yard run. Air Force responded with Dapore's 39-yard field goal and Army came right back with a 79-yard pass play from Christian Anderson to Robinson and a 13-3 lead after three quarters. Air Force closed the gap to 14-9 early in the fourth on Daniels' 4-yard toss to Dane Kinamon with the key play on the drive a 31-yard completion to David Cormier. - Army/AP College Football

Army quarterback Christian Anderson had the best rushing performance of the week, running for a career-high 236 yards on 15 carries against Miami (Ohio). Northwestern's Evan Hull had the only other 200-yard game, carrying 22 times for 216 against Ohio. Hull's 90-yard TD run was Northwestern's longest since Bill Swingle went 95 yards against Boston College in 1961. - AP College Football

  09/25/21 - QB Christian AndersonrSr/2022, Army, 6-0, 195 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Christian Anderson ran for a pair long first-half touchdowns and Army remained undefeated with a 23-10 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. Anderson sprinted 72 yards on Army's third play then eclipsed that personal best with a 75-yard score in the second quarter. He had a career-high 236 yards rushing on 15 carries before leaving with just over six minutes to go in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. Anderson had to exit the game twice in the first half with injuries before returning both times. It was a 42-yard run by Anderson in which he broke free of tacklers near the Army goal line that might have been the game's big play. Anderson's scamper came after a goal-line stand and was part of a 18-play drive that took nearly 11 minutes and ended with Anthony Adkins' 4-yard score early in the fourth quarter for a 23-3 lead.

A 21-yard field goal by Cole Talley after Reikan Donaldson blocked a RedHawks punt made it 17-3 at halftime. At that point, Army had outgained Miami 232-72 with all the Black Knights' yardage on the ground, 174 by Anderson on nine carries. Army gained all of its 384 yards on the ground with five pass attempts incomplete. Brett Gabbert threw for 193 yards that included an 80-yard touchdown by Kevin Davis, who eluded defenders down the right sideline for the only RedHawks (1-3) touchdown. Army is 4-0 for the first time since 1996 after its 13th straight home victory. - Army/AP College Football

  09/18/21 - QB Christian AndersonrSr/2022, Army, 6-0, 195 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Christian Anderson ran for two touchdowns, passed for another and Army reached the end zone on all six of its first-half possessions in rolling to a 52-21 win over UConn on Saturday. Anderson's two short scoring runs and his 39-yard TD pass to Isaiah Alston gave the Black Knights (3-0) a 21-0 lead on the way to their 12th straight home victory. Tyrell Robinson ran for a career-long 70-yard score and Jakobi Buchanan and Anthony Adkins added short TD runs for a 42-0 halftime lead. The 42 points were the most in a first half since scoring 42 against Houston in the 2018 Armed Forces Bowl, a 70-14 victory.

For the second straight game, Army did not punt. The Huskies (0-4) stopped Army's offense for the first time in the third quarter and they scored on freshman Tyler Phommachanh's 38-yard keeper and a 96-yard kickoff return by another freshman, Brian Brewton. It was UConn's first kickoff return for a TD since 2011. The points were the first for UConn against an FBS opponent this season. Fourteen Black Knights had positive rushing yards for a team total of 397 led by Robinson's 84. Phommachanh ran for two touchdowns and had 60 yards rushing and 109 passing. - Army/AP College Football

Christian Anderson rushed for a career-high 119 yards and passed for a touchdown and Army survived a Western Kentucky rally to take a 38-35 victory on Saturday. Trailing 35-14 midway through the second quarter, WKU (1-1) closed the gap to seven points on Bailey Zappe's 14-yard pass to Jerreth Sterns with just under five minutes remaining in the game. But Army (2-0) recovered a WKU onside kick and Cole Talley kicked a 31-yard field goal, giving the Black Knights the cushion they needed after the Hilltoppers scored a touchdown with 21 seconds left. Jakobi Buchanan ran for a pair of Army touchdowns. It was Army's first victory over WKU in four meetings since the teams' first meeting in 2013. Grad transfer Zappe, the nation's leading passer last year at Houston Baptist, was 28-of-40 for 435 yards with three touchdowns and an interception. Jerreth Sterns made nine catches for a career-high 171 yards and two scores. While WKU was dominant in the air, Army rushed for 339 yards and almost doubled the Hilltoppers in time of possession. - Army/AP College Football
