One week after landing one tight end for its 2022 recruiting class, the Pitt football program picked up another. Georgia Tech transfer Dylan Deveney committed Tuesday to the Panthers, an intra-ACC Coastal division move he announced on social media. The 6 -foot-6, 265-pound Deveney played three seasons for the Yellow Jackets, amassing 14 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown in that time. Much of that production came in his first two seasons, when he made a combined eight starts.Last season, he was limited to just three games after undergoing season-ending surgery in October, and last month, he opted to enter the transfer portal. Due to the timing of his injury in 2021, Deveney will be able to use a redshirt for that season, giving him three seaso ns of eligibility with Pitt. He's the seventh transfer to join the Panthers this offseason. A three-star recruit coming out of high school in Medford, N.J., in 2019, Deveney committed to Georgia Tech over offers from a handful of other Power Five program s, including Pitt. - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Georgia Tech third-year tight end Dylan Deveney spent the weekend at Rutgers with his parents and is the first player to officially visit this year. Deveney will officially visit Missouri and is talking to Maryland some but Rutgers is one of the favorite s at this stage. A one-time Rutgers pledge who flipped to Georgia Tech in December of 2018, Deveney is a massive tight end with three years of eligibility, who Rutgers can develop if he returns home. Rutgers plays four tight ends, so he will have the spa ce he needs to carve out a role in the offense. However, Deveney won't enroll anywhere until the summer, so his recruitment has some playing out to do. - Star Ledger

Georgia Tech tight end Dylan Deveney, among the first players whom coach Geoff Collins recruited upon his hire in December 2018, entered the transfer portal. Deveney, who missed the latter portion of the 2021 season with an injury and then missed spring practice recovering from surgery, made the announcement Wednesday on his Twitter account. Deveney, from Medford, N.J., appeared in 23 games for the Yellow Jackets in three seasons and started eight games. He caught 14 passes for 102 yards with one touchd own.Deveney was positioned to compete for playing time with transfer Luke Benson (Syracuse) and returnee Dylan Leonard. Collins made a priority of recruiting Deveney out of high school when the Jackets roster was bereft of tight ends. Deveney, who began playing football only as a high school senior and then played one postgraduate season at a prep school, was committed to Rutgers before deciding to sign with Tech. According to his announcement, Deveney will graduate this summer. He has three seas ons of eligibility remaining. - Atlanta Journal Constitution
