  OCT 17 MAC WEST DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: John Richardson, NIU, Kicker, Junior, Orland Park, Ill. (Brother Rice),...John Richardson made all four of his field goal attempts Saturday at Eastern Michigan, hitting from 41, 39, 28 and 33 yards in NIU's 39-10 win. He hit two field goals in the second quarter to give NIU a 20-7 halftime lead, then added a pair in the second half as the Huskies pulled away to win. Richardson also made all three of his PATs for 15 points, just one shy of his single game career high. Richardson kicked off nine times in the game, often kicking shorter to control field position, with one of his squib kickoffs fumbled and recovered by NIU. - MAC Football

Five of those came in a triumphant 16-point performance against Toledo with his final kick lifting the Huskies to a 22-20 road win. (Brother Rice),...Richardson made his second game-winning field goal of the season with a 32-yard kick on the final play of the game to beat Ball State 30-29. Richardson was 3-for-3 on field goals in the game with a pair of 38-yard efforts. He totaled 12 points in the game.   John Richardson kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired and Northern Illinois defeated Ball State 30-29 on Wednesday night in a game that saw three lead changes in the final 2-plus minutes. Northern Illinois drove 69 yards in 14 plays to take a 27-26 lead with 2:42 to go in the fourth. The score came on a 10-yard run by Jay Ducker and culminated a drive in which the Huskies converted three third downs. The Cardinals quickly drove to the Northern Illinois side of the field but their drive stalled at the 31 and Jacob Lewis kicked a 48-yard field goal for a 29-27 lead with 1:42 to go. Not to be outdone, the Huskies raced back and reached the 10-yard line before backing up and setting up Richardson's winning kick, his third field goal of the game. The win keeps Northern Illinois (7-3, 5-1 Mid-American) in first place in the West Division with two games remaining in the regular season. Ducker gained 155 yards rushing on 24 carries and Rocky Lombardi was 23-of-38 passing for 264 yards for the Huskies.   OCT 11 MAC WEST DIVISION SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: John Richardson, NIU, Kicker, Sophomore, Orland Park, Ill. (Brother Rice),...Sophomore John Richardson kicked five field goals, the last a 29-yarder with 26 seconds on the clock to give NIU a 22-20 win over Toledo Saturday at the Glass Bowl. Richardson tied the NIU school record for field goals in a game with his five three-pointers – of 43, 26, 43, 47 and 29 yards. His five threes tied the record held by Vince Scott (vs. Ohio, 11-6-82) and Chris Nendick (vs. Temple, 10-21-06). His 47-yard field goal was his longest of the year and he is now 11-of-12 on field goals this season. He accounted for all but six of the Huskies' point on the day with 16 total and also kicked off seven times for a 64.0 yard average with five touchbacks. - MAC Football

  John Richardson kicked five field goals, including a 29-yarder with 26 seconds remaining in the game, and Northern Illinois rallied last in a 22-20 victory over Toledo in Mid-American Conference play on Saturday. In a game that saw six lead changes, Toledo (3-3, 1-1) used Dequan Finn's 11-yard TD toss to Devin Maddox to grab a 20-19 lead with 3:35 left to play. The Rockets were stopped on their two-point try. Rocky Lombardi took over from there, directing a nine-play, 60-yard game-winning drive. A pass interference penalty and Lombardi's 34-yard strike to Tyrice Richie on back-to-back plays gave the Huskies (4-2, 2-0) the ball at the Rockets' 7-yard line, setting the stage for Richardson.

Richardson's field goals covered 43, 26 and 43, respectively, in the first half. He kicked a 47-yarder with 6:19 left to play. Northern Illinois' lone touchdown was a 37-yard run by Antario Brown with 36 seconds left in the first half, giving the Huskies a 16-14 lead. Brown finished with 93 yards on 24 carries. Richie had eight catches for 98 yards. Lombardi was 14-of-24 passing for 154 yards with one interception. Bryant Koback's 40-yard TD run gave Toledo a 7-6 lead with 4:55 left in the second quarter. Finn's 75-yard scoring strike to Koback put the Rockets up 14-9 with 2:25 left before halftime. Koback ran for 91 yards on 12 carries and caught two passes for 85 yards. NIU drove the ball from its 25 to the Toledo seven-yard line on a 13-play drive to set up Richardson's game-winner. He also made all four of his PAT attempts to remain perfect on the year. Richardson also hit a career long 51-yard field goal in the first quarter which tied as the sixth longest field goal in NIU history and was the longest since 2015.
