  Ball State will be without top running back Caleb Huntley for Friday's Mid-American Conference championship game after he announced Sunday was opting out of the rest of this season. The 5-foot-10, 229-pound back from Atlanta says he will instead focus on preparing for April's NFL draft. Huntley rushed for 437 yards and six touchdowns in the Cardinals first three games and extended his streak of consecutive 100-yard games to seven. But he missed Ball State's final three games with an undisclosed injury. Huntley finishes his career with 2,902 yards, seventh on Ball State's career list, and his 21 TD runs are 10th in school history. - AP College Football

(Locust Grove),...Huntley ran for a career-high 204 yards and matched his career-best with three touchdowns in Ball State's 38-31 victory over Eastern Michigan. He scored the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard plunge with 6 seconds left. Huntley carried the ball 34 times, one shy of his career high. He surpassed the 100-yard mark for the sixth straight game, tying a Ball State record, and became the first BSU player to top 200 yards since 2016.   Caleb Huntley had a career-high 204 yards rushing and three touchdowns, including a 1-yard score with 6 seconds to play, and Ball State rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Eastern Michigan 38-31 on Wednesday night. Quarterback Preston Hutchinson's third touchdown run for the Eagles tied it a 31-all with 4:12 to play but Ball State (1-1, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) answered with an 11-play, 79-yard drive capped when Huntley scored on an off-tackle run.

Drew Plitt finished 22-of-31 passing for 232 yards and one touchdown with one interception for the Cardinals. Justin Hall had seven receptions for 55 yards, extending the longest active streak in FBS with a catch in his 38th consecutive game. The senior lead all active FBS players with 219 career receptions. Hutchinson completed 17 of 29 passes for 250 yards and a score and added 17 carries for 103 yards Eastern Michigan (0-2, 0-2 Mid-American Conference). The junior went into the game with career totals of minus-23 yards rushing and three rushing TDs. - AP College Football

  Caleb Huntley ran for three touchdowns and Ball State scored 27 points in the second half to beat Miami (Ohio) 41-27 on Friday. Miami (7-5, 6-2), which had its five-game win streak snapped, entered having already clinched the Mid-American Conference East Division title. The RedHawks will face Central Michigan in the conference championship on Dec. 7 at Ford Field in Detroit. Ball State (5-7, 4-4) concludes its season by snapping a four-game losing streak.

The RedHawks built a 27-14 halftime lead, but Ball State’s Drew Plitt threw a pair of 40-yard touchdown passes to Yo'Heinz Tyler. Huntley, who scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter, added 5- and 30-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter. Huntley had 134 yards rushing on 24 carries. Plitt also threw a 7-yard TD pass to Justin Hall in the second quarter and finished 26-of-40 passing for 317 yards. Jaylon Bester ran for a 16-yard touchdown for Miami. Brett Gabbert added a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jack Sorenson and Lonnie Phelps ran 32 yards into the end zone off a blocked punt in the second quarter. - AP College Football

The 157 yards rushing were only two yards shy of his career-high and he carried the ball a career-high 35 times.   Caleb Huntley ran 35 times for 157 yards and two TDs, and Ball State rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat Northern Illinois 27-20 in the Mid-American Conference opener for both teams on Saturday. The Cardinals (2-3) trailed 17-3 at halftime and Ryan Rimmler kicked a 25-yard field goal to cut into the deficit in the middle of the third quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Huskies (1-4) fumbled deep in their territory. Huntley scored on the first play - a 3-yard run - and Drew Plitt passed to Justin Hall for the two-point conversion, pulling Ball State to 17-14. Rimmler kicked a 42-yard field goal late in the third quarter to tie it at 17. Huntley followed with a 45-yard TD run to give the Cardinals a 24-17 lead.
