WEEK 10 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas,...Simmons produced a strip-sack and also made the recovery on the first Vanderbilt possession of the game to go along with five tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two pressures in Texas' 34-31 win over the No. 9 Commodores...The recovery set up the UT offense at the Vanderbilt 29-yard line, which it converted for field goal and a 10-0 lead on the way to the win. On the Commodore's next possession, Simmons pressured the quarterback into an incomplete pass on third-and-11 at midfield to force a punt.

The Texas offense then drove 83 yards on that possession for a 17-0 lead. On the following Vanderbilt possession, Simmons registered a tackle for no gain and a half tackle for a four-yard loss, helping limit the Commodores to a field goal on the possession...Overall, Simmons efforts helped the Texas defense post six sacks, twice as many as quarterback Diego Pavia has ever suffered in a game in his career...This season, Simmons leads Texas with eight sacks, 9.5 tackles for loss and eight pressures. His 0.89 sacks per game rank second in the SEC and 9th in the FBS. In his last four games, Simmons has accounted for 6.5 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. - SEC Football

WEEK 8 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas,...Simmons posted a career-high three sacks and his first forced fumble of the season as Texas went on the road and earned a 16-13 overtime win at Kentucky...The defense held Kentucky scoreless in the first half and out of the end zone until the fourth quarter for a stretch of eight-straight quarters without allowing a touchdown going back to the third quarter at Florida...Simmons' first sack came early in the second quarter on a 3rd-and-five when the Wildcats had advanced to the Texas 39-yard line with the game still scoreless. Any forward progress might have led to a fourth-down attempt, but Simmons first dropped into coverage before charging the quarterback after a rollout. The sack resulted in a loss of five yards and forced a punt.

His other two sacks came on consecutive plays in the fourth quarter with the game tied at 10-10. After Kentucky had just completed a 19-yards pass to UK 34, Simmons killed the momentum with a 3-yard sack on first down and 2-yard sack with the forced fumble on second down. A defensive teammate was inches from recovering the fumble on a diving attempt, and although the Wildcats managed to get it back, the series ended on the next play, forcing a punt...The teams would exchange field goals in the last minute of the game to go to overtime where Texas prevailed...Simmons is second in the SEC and seventh nationally this season with seven sacks, while his eight tackles for loss leads the team. It was also Simmons' fourth-straight game with a sack. - SEC Football

WEEK 7 SEC CO-DEFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas,...Simmons collected 2.5 sacks as part of five tackles to help the Texas defense keep rival No. 6 Oklahoma out the end zone in a 23-6 victory in the Allstate Red River Rivalry in Dallas...First sack came early in the second quarter with Oklahoma having reached the UT 24-yard line. It was for five yards and set the tone of the series that eventually ended in a stop by the Longhorns to hold the Sooners to just a field goal and a 6-0 lead...His next sack came in with 6:23 left in the fourth quarter and Texas leading 20-6. Oklahoma was at the UT 35-yard line with a 3rd-and-20 and it forced a fourth down that Oklahoma went for but failed to convert to give the ball back to Texas...His final half sack came on the Sooners' final drive for a loss of 12 yards resulting in a 3rd-and-22...Oklahoma would be limited to only 258 total yards in the game, including just 88 in the second half after entering the game averaging 415.2 yards per and 33.8 points per game. - SEC Football
